I'm honestly not sure what the prosecutor is thinking at this point. I know that Hocking County does not get very many murders- the last one I can think of was I believe 2010 or 2011 and was domestic violence related- so I'm hoping they aren't making a complete botch job of this situation out of sheer inexperience handling high-profile cases. This case just gets stranger and stranger.

Logan teens arrested for Hocking Hills reckless homicide may face additional charges

“Asked if he thinks the teens have shown remorse Fickel said “I have seen some other things, I have heard some other information that leads me to believe they were anything but remorseful. I am not going to disclose at this time since I have not confirmed those statements but it’s very concerning but it is almost disgusting to hear some of the things they were saying and doing.””

From the article in the first post, it sounds like the teens were gloating about killing this woman.

A judge in a Hocking County courtroom, Tuesday, ruled that Jaden Churchheus, 16, will be tried as an adult after the teen was accused of killing Victoria Schafer near Old Man’s Cave in early September. Churchheus was also issued a $100,000 bond. If he does make bond, the court ruled he will have to wear an ankle monitor.

Another teen, Jordan Buckley, 16, has also been charged with Schafer’s death, and is scheduled to be in court later Tuesday.

Victoria Schafer, 44, was killed instantly when the 74-pound log fell about 75 feet and hit her as she photographed students for their senior pictures near Old Man’s Cave at Hocking Hills State Park, in Ohio, on 2 September.

Authorities investigating whether the log was deliberately moved concluded that it was purposely removed from a pile of logs more than 40 feet from the edge of a cliff, the Chillicothe Gazette reports.

Logan teens will be tried as adults in connection with death of Chillicothe photographer

Victoria Schafer, 44, died on Labor Day. Investigators say she was taking photos of students at Old Man’s Cave when Jaden Churchheus and Jordan Buckley pushed a 74 pound log off a cliff. That log then struck and killed Schafer, per police.

Court documents show the teens were charged with Murder, Assault, and Involuntary Manslaughter.

The trial for one of two teenagers charged in the death of a woman at Hocking Hills State Park has been canceled.

According to documents filed in the Hocking County Court of Common Pleas this week, a September trial date for Jaden Churchheus has been "vacated" because "the parties indicated that they had reached a plea agreement."

The terms of the plea agreement have not been released and Judge John Wallace wrote in a court filing, "further proceedings shall be scheduled by separate notice and order".

Buckley's trial is scheduled for September 28.
