Oh - Violet Rhoden Taylor, 35, found shot, Pike County, 11 June 2018

Rhoden family member’s Pike County death came from gunshot to chest

“Authorities continue to investigate Violet Renee Taylor’s June 11 death and identified a Pike County man as a suspect in the case, but no charges have been filed against him, according to an incident report obtained by the Dayton Daily News.”

When will the news media finally stand up to the Ohio AG and PCSO and demand some accountability? No other LE agencies operate this way without someone from the FBI stepping in. It's way past time the public demand some answers about how poorly and suspciously these investigations are being conducted.

How much longer is the news media going to put up with this unethical behavior without reporting on it? The independent news media seems to be doing a better job.

It is possible the term "witness" is being used for contacts made during the investigation. There are many details missing here, and whatever has been made public raises more questions.

I think that’s possible. From the sounds of the article, the MSM has the incident report which probably lists all the names. I’m more concerned with there being a suspect in a death that is still undetermined as suicide or homicide. That’s strange. How can LE suspect someone of wrong doing if the death was self inflicted?

Why in the world did it take this long to determine she was murdered with five witnesses?

The five witnesses may not have been down in that holler. The five may be witness to what the guy said after he came out of the holler.

I just realized we are essentially speaking about 7 people.

1 victim
1 suspect
5 witness.

That’s a lot of people surrounding something that may be a suicide isn’t it?

Agree, they wouldn't necessarily be down in the holler. Thus far the 911 call implies the victim and the anonymous associate were there at the death scene. The caller claims to have been in her own home down the road. So there are at least 3 other people who were either somewhere nearby or who had some kind of contact with the victim and/or the "associate" around the time of Violet's death. They could have also been nearby and heard the gunshot/s. Could have overheard some conversation, saw someone with a weapon, etc.

This is an unusual fact pattern. Only 1/3 of females use a firarm in an attempt, and a shotgun is not an easy weapon to discharge at one's own chest - especially if someone is with you, even though you've gone off into the woods for....privacy?

Also wondering why Violet was in that area that day. Did someone ask her to come over to their house to visit? Did she just drop by for a social visit? Meeting?

Was she visiting with the woman who made the 911 call? I assume that's the case because, from my estimation on Google Maps, Violet's body was found some distance from the address of the 911 caller. Not a mile, but maybe half a mile or more. The 911 caller wouldn't be able to see the "holler" from her home. Someone would have had to call her and tell her the location of Violet's body. Either that or the caller was in her car near the "holler". If someone relayed the info to the caller about Violet's death, why didn't that person call 911? Most likely because they were the killer.

Another bizarre scenario in Pike County. Either that or it only looks bizarre because of the limited amount of information given to the news media by LE.

I would assume (and I'm no expert) you would have to be a rather tall/large person with long arms. Right? It's a long gun and the trigger is far away when pointed at one's chest area.

I guess we'll have to wait until the facts come out, if they ever do.

Shotguns need to have barrels about 19" long, even combat guns. It can be done, but not readily: it displays some planning. Letting it happen in front of you? I don't know about that.

I've been actively following websleuths since 2014, not as long as some but still a good bit of time, I have never seen a suicide with an audience, EVER!

Me either. And if there’s ever an audience it’s a case of murder suicide.

I do know of one person, a family friend, who walked in his living room where his wife and mother were sitting, looked at them, said “I’m sorry, I messed up” (because he had began drinking again and was a recovered chronic alcoholic), put a gun in his mouth and killed his self right in front of them. It happened in a matter of seconds and was over before the wife and mother could even realize what was going on BUT he was in his own home, not in the middle of a holler with another person or people, and it was totally different circumstances.

When I went to listen to the 911 call, the video/audio has been pulled from all sources. It only shows a picture, no matter how hard I looked, I couldn't find it anywhere! Seems pretty suspicious, but so does everything else that goes on in & around Pike County especially in regards to any of the Rhoden family.:eek:o_O

You said a mouthful there. I have never in my life seen such a cluster of nonsense. It seems there are no repercussions for murder in the entire county. There seems to be a massive amount of police involved killings, I can think of 3 in just the last couple months.

February 2018- Officials identify man killed by Pike County deputy Thursday
Plus these two.

Also a whole lot of murders that people NEVER get charged with, specifically this one, the evidence is pretty cut and dry here, can someone who knows the law explain why everything goes to the grand jury, why in the world would this need to go to a grand jury?????? And the charges were dropped because he didn't get a speedy trial??? This isn't a common thing is it? I live in a much more metropolitan area and haven't lived in the "sticks" since I was 18 so I'm a bit out of the loop.
More people charged after disappearance of Pike County woman

Finally my last thought, after following the Rhoden murders from the beginning, which has brought up a ton of other cases, does Pike County seem to have the largest population of meth users in the world? It seems like over half the population in the county is high???? What is going on in Pike County?

How about that other shootout in Pike! It's like the wild west! I have no clue why every case seems to go to a grand jury, it's strange for sure. Meth? Seems like it's a major problem in the area.

Is there anything new with this case? I see there have been some recent arrests of people in the area who may be connected to this case.

I wonder if she was in "business" with her brother. She stated on FaceBook that her phone had been taken when he was arrested.

The roster reads like a who's who. It appears to be a certain crowd, intertwined through family & friends, who frequent these jails. Am I right? Drugs mostly, domestic violence, voluntary manslaughter, burglary, assault, probation violations...already. They seem to have an eye on him. Still nothing on why Elvie is in though. I would really like to know what's going on in that county.
