A contractor inspecting a building for asbestos discovered human remains behind the wall of an upstairs apartment at 540 East Market Street on Thursday when he found a human arm bone in a pile of insulation on the first floor.

"We saw the bone then we saw a hole up in the ceiling which made me go to the second floor and discover the body, hidden in a crawl space," said Walters.

Police estimate the body had been there at least one year.

Wonder if it's Jimmy Hoffa. Afterall, they where searching in the wall of a tavern in Cleveland a couple years ago.

It's too early to know a gender, race, age or height, which are all key factors in narrowing down a potential match.

"Once you have those parameters filled in, then you have a better idea," said Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, Trumbull County Coroner. "There's so many variable that go into that for example; temperature, humidity, animal activity."

Police don't believe the bones belong to any of the three missing persons reported within the city.

First thought for me was Lauren Spierer, missing from Bloomington, IN.

The building looks like it has been empty for a while, If so I wonder how long it has been empty.

I'm guessing domestic, somebody who was never reported missing. Probably a previous tenant.

Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk said it is 60-year-old Thomas Pickens. He said Pickens was the victim of a homicide.
Pickens’ body was found on the second floor by crews demolishing the East Market Street building to make way for a parking lot for the Sunrise Inn. Warren detectives said they believe Pickens had been there for several years but was never reported missing.
