Salem man reported missing after flight from Salem Air Park
Police said the 83-year-old man hasn't been seen since flying out of the Salem Air Park in a private plane

Investigators are looking for an 83-year-old Salem man who flew a private plane out of the Salem Air Park on Sunday afternoon and hasn’t been seen since.

The plane that was piloted by a Salem man who was reported missing Wednesday was found Friday in Carroll County.

Willard Olds took off around 3 p.m. from the Salem Air Park on Sunday in a 1986 Skylane plane. His body was discovered around 9:45 a.m. in Mechanicstown, about 30 miles from Salem.

“He was deceased in the plane. We contacted the FAA (Federal Aviation Association), and they are now here doing their investigation,” said Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. William Bower.
