OT - I had my tonsils out at St. Francis Hospital in 1970. We always used the physicians there. Very sad.

Tulsa Police say there was a letter on the suspect that makes it clear he came in with the intent to kill Dr. Preston Phillips and anyone who got into his way. He blamed. Dr. Phillips for his ongoing pain following his surgery, police say.

Tulsa Police are holding a press conference as I type. Their report is amazingly thorough and transparent.

Chief Franklin of Tulsa police depart gave a minute to minute detailed report of what LE knows about the shooter and shooting. Very impressive. Very sharp. Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum is currently speaking at the press conference, providing many details. I applaud how this aftermath is being handled by LE and officials.

There is pain after surgery. I am sure this man had pain before surgery, too. It had only been a week. I think there has to be more to this man's actions than just post-op pain. Surely, he was prescribed something. You can always call if it doesn't help or you can't tolerate it. This is so sad to me for all involved.

Tulsa is a great town with a very professional town government and police force.

Agree. It seems the shooter believed his doctor and Saint Francis med center was responsible for his continuing pain post surgery. (Maybe he believed he wasn't getting the pain relievers he wanted?....just my speculation/opinion)

I am very impressed with this press conference and Tulsa police. This should be a lesson to officials dealing with the other recent mass shooting in TX. IMO.

Tulsa Police Chief is Wendell Franklin. He is doing a great job. IMO

Police say the doctors were in the hospital working. As for the other two victims -- one was a patient and one was a receptionist, police say.

"We train to enter the building. If shots are being fired we train to move rapidly toward the shots. That is what these officers did."

Tulsa Police Chief says when they got the active shooter call, they "disregarded any safety measures they had for themselves." He says they entered the hospital immediately.

Police chief says there are reports one of the Tulsa victims was holding the door for someone else to escape when that victim was shot and killed.

The shooter's wife called police and said her husband contacted her either right before the shooting or during the shooting to let her know what he was doing, Tulsa Police say.

Unfortunately a lot of folks don't realize the danger a receptionist is often in, it was her job to keep people from getting back and she was shot . So very sad for all involved.

Tulsa Police say the hospital gunman bought the guns legally. One was purchased an hour before the shooting. The other was purchased 3 days before the shooting.

What a loss. Harvard Medical school, residency at Yale, 32 years experience. I don't know if it was more difficult for a black man at the time but certainly hope not.

IMO you can be in any profession and if someone unbalanced has a grudge against you, you can be in danger. I remember a lawyer who had to hide behind a tree from a client who was unhappy and tried to shoot him.

The other Doctor, the receptionist, the patient...so tragic.

This never ends. It does seem that the police did their job immediately and the press conference was transparent.

God help the families.

Again. Another place, another day, another mass shooting.

ETA a picture of Dr. Stephanie Husen and more info.

You are correct @Arkay . It never ends...until something changes.

This one hits too close to home for me. A Texas Facebook friend of mine's son-in-law is an orthopedist in that office. He was not hurt, thank goodness!
