I think it is very interesting hearing how everyone feels it from different distances and stuff.

Haven't felt anything after the first one here. Of course, with thunder coming in and a long train rolling by, maybe I'm just unconsciously attributing any shaking and rumbling to those factors.

I really thought those were ovr.i hate the cracking sound of my house the worst. Usually the rumbling sound scares me the most,but we're being pounded right now with severe thunderstorms..on edge here again tonight!

Thunderstorm here right now too.....have not felt anything shaky since an hour ago, tho.

Mother Nature 2011 in NE OK

Three separate blizzards, the last two of which occurred during one week in which 34" of snow fell.

40+ days in a row of temperatures over 100 degrees; high reading was 112.

5.6 earthquake, OK's strongest ever.

(Each of the weather events easily set new records.)

Gosh - all these earthquakes and now floods in Oklahoma! I was watching that on the Weather channel - hang in there, guys!

We are having the scariest weather year ever here in Tennessee. Back in April we had four tornadoes in one day, one of them an F5 that plowed up miles of land, knocked down countless big trees, destroyed houses and schools, and killed at least 8 people. I don't even know why I'm alive right now.

And now I'm jumping every time a heavy train goes through my town because I'm thinking about these earthquakes! :crazy:

What's interesting is that the 4.7 tonight in Oklahoma had one report from Lookout Mountain, TN, which is near me in Chattanooga. I also see reports from SC and Ohio - wow! I'm sure I didn't feel the one earlier, but my dog was barking around that time.

We are currently experiencing a good old-fashioned gully-washer with tornado warnings in some nearby counties. We seem to be getting the "heel end" of all that OK has experienced with regard to storms and quakes...I guess that makes NW Arkansas Mother Nature's step-child? (Hey...we'll be the step-child!)

Not so much a toad-strangler here as just a basic heavy downpour; we've had 2.3" since midnight, the severe storms going south and east of us into Arkansas. I almost hope for another (non-destructive) earthquake so I can judge the effects of the rumbling on the pond that is now in my back yard.

I felt the next one, the 4.7, and have now concluded I'm getting addicted to earthquakes! I was really expecting something last night - "sixth sense," dogs in the neighborhood were making noise. Nope - and praying there won't be anything destructive. Lucky so far on minimal damage (the folks whose houses took a hit I do feel for).

Saw this Reuters article this morning when I was checking to see if we'd had any more quakes:

years ago i lived next to the army plant and when i first moved there it freaked me out, every morning at 11am they would explode something. i got used to it but it took awhile. when the windows shook i always looked at the clock to make sure it was 11am and we weren't being attacked :)

They still do at 11:00 A.M without fail. My nephew, who is military, took me out to show he how it'a done. They use cranes to dig a GINORMOUS hole.The
and then fill in the pits with EXPIRED unsafe to travel bombs, and blow em up.
Also, he has been to irag for 2 terms, and were able to talk to him via Skype. Sometimes times it was pretty intense. His job was to find and denotate any bombs so his squad was out in front. He was team leader and had 25 men under him.

He was also a sniper. A lot of time he would have to hang up quickly as there were incoming. I learned very eary on to tell the difference

Yikes. And today is the second anniversary of the 5.6 in 2011.

3.9-magnitude earthquake reported in central Oklahoma
The latest — and largest — in a series of earthquakes in the past few days was reported Monday night in the Oklahoma City area.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake measured 3.9 in magnitude. Residents in north Oklahoma City, Edmond and Spencer areas reported feeling an earthquake just after 10 p.m.

The quake was centered about four miles north, northwest of Jones.

Dozens of quakes have been recorded in the area in the past week.

I'm just wondering if this was felt in Eastern Ky. I have been in bed all day due to severe pain, but I heard a rumbling and thought it was thunder. My dog went crazy, and thunder doesn't bother him.

So: who felt this? It didn't quite make it to the Hudson Valley, but oh do I remember the first 5.6, see above.

Who was jostled?
