According to Marianne Garcia-Cowan, there are few worse things than being a mother and believing something horrible has happened to your child.

Cowan has been living with that feeling in her heart for more than 10 years. “When you have a missing child, part of you is always missing with them,” she told Dateline.

Her then 15-year-old daughter, Adrianne Garcia, disappeared on December 29th, 2004 after leaving to walk to a friend’s house several miles from her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

“I don’t have a whole lot left from her, but the few things I have are real treasures to me,” Cowan told Dateline.

Cowan told Dateline her daughter, affectionately nicknamed “Dreena” by her grandfather, was sometimes known as a troublemaker, but it was always in good fun. Dreena was popular in school, incredibly close with all 6 of her siblings, but what really stood out was her voice.

“That girl could sing. I remember I bought her a little karaoke machine and she just… wow. Selena was an idol for her,” Cowan said.

Details of Disappearance​

Adrianna disappeared from Tulsa, Oklahoma on December 29, 2004. She was last seen walking several miles from her home to a friend's house. She never arrived there.

Authorities believe she left of her own accord and may still be in the local area, but Adrianna's loved ones stated she was popular at school, close to her six siblings and wouldn't have gone this long without contact. Few details are available in her case.
