April Kelly Reed was 20 years old when she went missing September 4th, 2001. April was wearing blue wide-legged jeans and a multicolored shirt and was carrying a black wheeled suitcase with a pull up handle.

She was last seen at 6 pm September 4th, 2001 outside of the Jesus House shelter on the 1300 block of Sheridan in Oklahoma City. She was never seen or heard from again.

She was 4’8 and 125 lbs. She has a tattoo of a butterfly on her left shoulder. Her left ring finger was crushed in a previous incident.

Kelly is mentally ill and needs medication.

I am April Kelly Reeds half sister. This story is so different than what you see on NameUs. I am posting here in this community in hopes you guys can help me.
For one, my “mother” (biological) traded April for a car. You heard me right. April’s fathers’s family (specifically her father’s mother) traded a car for April.
I was 16 when my sister disappeared and I knew nothing about her as I was adopted (my mother left me with my predator father when I was 4) so my records were sealed until I turned 18. However, I was in the military at 18 and deployed overseas. I remained in the service until 2014. At which time I did begin to look for my biological family. This however took time as tracking down my mother took ages.
Then I also had to track down my sisters (there was 6 of us April included.
After finally tracking down some of my sisters, only one had met April and knew she had disappeared. This was only recently….and now I am trying to find answers for her. I hounded my biological mom for months before she finally agreed to do a dna swab. That has literally just now been sent off this past week September 14th 2025.
Now maybe she can been matched with JANE Doe cases.
But I want to give a voice behind this missing person flyer.
For one my sister suffered horribly at the hands of this family.
A older cousin was raping her and the family knew….(I have personally spoken to her grandmother, and this was also confirmed by 4 other family members)
The last known place that’s listed is entirely false. The last known sighting was at the older cousins house.
I was met with severe hostility from her family when I started asking the hard questions. Like why did they not EVER contact police again after the initial missing person report?
Why did no one ever follow up? Why did they not report the cousin raping her to the police when they did the missing person report?
Why does the report have the wrong location?
I was asked to not contact them again.
I am currently working with the detective (the only one in 24 years to have seen her case and actually tried to solve it) his name is captain ward with the Del city police.
Hopefully soon I will at least be able to get my sisters name off a missing person flyer. Unfortunately capt ward has informed me there has been absolutely no digital footprint for my sister since she disappeared. This means her social or any documentation for her has been used. No bank records, no job records, no social security usage. So the odds of her ever being found alive are devastatingly slim.
I am fairly certain she will be matched to a Jane doe. In the meantime this NameUs information boils my blood.

I also want to clarify that yes my sister had a diagnosed mental illness. Schizophrenia to be exact. However that is not my sister’s identity. So often when people have these diagnoses people are so quick to say….oh she was homeless, she was a prostitute or any other number of things.
I want to be clear, my sister had only recently been diagnosed. She was only 20 when she disappeared and she was NOT homeless. Nor was she a prostitute. She was a young woman who was taking meds for her diagnoses, who was being sexually abused by a family member even though this family member knew she was struggling mentally. Anyone who knew her (I have spoken to many many people) besides some hostile family members…..say April had the kindest heart you’ll ever meet. That she lit up any room she was in, that she was quick to have a huge smile, and she loved life. I do NOT want her memory to sit here and be she was mentally ill and needed meds. That was a small part of her, and one she was managing with proper medication.

With fingerprints, plenty of family reference samples and a possible biological sample from the actual MP for direct DNA comparison, and a close relative being in a genealogical database accessible to law enforcement, I can say [IMOO of course] that if she's turned up somewhere as an unidentified remains case, they should be able to make a connection pretty easily and quickly (UP6729 and UP6728 in NamUs look like promising potential matches after some cursory searching).
