CYRIL, Okla. (KSWO) - The mother of the four-year-old who was killed in Cyril appeared in court today.

Jasmin Brownfield, who now goes by Karma Tucker, was the mother of Athena Brownfield. Jasmin is supposed to appear in court again on March 12th.

Alysia is also due in court on March 12, and Ivon on March 9.

I do not know about that March 9th date for Ivon - it is a Sunday.... ??

Yeah, weird huh? The court site finally updated and the docket says Sunday March 9 for Ivon.

Maybe as it gets near the beginning of March - I shall ask you again to look at the court site. It does seem weird to have a court date on a Sunday. ??

Brownfield did speak with News 4 about a different topic in January though, going by a different name, Karma Tucker.

Court documents Friday included that name under Brownfield’s, indicating it was another name she was known by

News 4 asked Brownfield several questions surrounding if she felt like she did anything wrong, why she wanted the case to go to trial, why she trusted the Adams’ with her daughter’s and if she had anything to say to the community of Cyril. None of those questions received a response.

*Disposition Hearing (@ am CT) - OK – Athena Alexandria Brownfield (4) - Athena & her sister (5) were left alone on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 but Athena was first reported missing on Jan. 10, 2023 after her sister was found walking alone near the town of Cyril by a postal worker & he contacted LE. (Athena was found on Jan. 17, 2023 in Rush Springs, Grady County property in a backpack; LE found out that she had been beaten & died on Dec. 25, 2022 from Alysia’s interrogation; Id’d on Jan. 26, 2023) - *Alysia Adina Adams aka Alysia Adina Galvan (31/now 33) arrested (1/12/23), charged (1/17/23) & arraigned (3/13/24) with 2 counts of child neglect – one for failing to supervise Athena's sister & another for failing to protect Athena from her husband’s physical abuse. Charges were amended (1/12/23) & arraigned (3/13/24) with 1st degree murder, obstruction of a public officer & 2 counts of child neglect. Plead not guilty. Bond @ $500K with restrictions if bonded out. DP will seek DP (2/14/24). Caddo County
Trial was set to begin on 9/23/24 was vacated & no further dates.

10/9/24 Update: Adams is expected to change her plea on 11/13/24. The court is expected to set a date for a sentencing hearing. Court records show negotiations between prosecutors & Jasmin Brownfield are underway & it is possible she could plead guilty at her next court date on January 8, 2025.
11/13/24 Update: Adams will go to trial after she turned down a plea deal on Wednesday. Attorneys for both sides have been talking about a possible plea deal in the case for several months. The deal would have taken the death penalty off the table. In the final minutes before Wednesday’s hearing, Adams decided not to enter a plea which will send the case to trial. There will be a deposition hearing on 3/12/25 & the trial will be set for a later date in 2025. In court, the state said the withdrawal of a plea meant all negotiations were off the table for the defendant. The state said it would seek the death penalty.

Felony warrant from OK. for 1st degree murder & child neglect. Held without bond pending extradition to OK. Booked (1/19/23) in Caddo County Jail. Held on $1M bond. *Charged (1/20/23) with 1st degree murder/child abuse & child neglect. These charges were amended (12/12/23) to 2nd degree murder & child neglect. Held without bond. Bond denied (1/20/23). Caddo County
Trial was set to begin in April, 2025 was continued with no further dates.

I really and truly don't understand why all the delays. I would appreciate anyone who could explain the reasoning behind this
