CADDO COUNTY, Okla. (KSWO) — The woman charged with killing a 4-year-old girl from Cyril has waived her right to a jury trial and agreed to enter a plea in May.

On Wednesday, Alysia Adams officially waived her right to a jury trial to enter a plea at 10:30 a.m. May 20.

According to court documents, Adams was promised a plea agreement, which led to her waiver of a jury trial. She previously denied a plea deal on Nov. 13, 2024.

Athena’s probable cause of death was determined to be from acute pneumonia that complicated her malnutrition, according to the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s preliminary autopsy report. She weighed 23 pounds at the time of death. She also tested positive for rhinovirus/enterovirus, human adenovirus, human bocavirus and COVID-19, according to the report.

Alysia Adams is alleged to have confined the child in a closet without food or water.

*Felony Disposition Hearing (@ 1:30pm CT) - OK – Athena Alexandria Brownfield (4) - Athena & her sister (5) were left alone on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 but Athena was first reported missing on Jan. 10, 2023 after her sister was found walking alone near the town of Cyril by a postal worker & he contacted LE. (Athena was found on Jan. 17, 2023 in Rush Springs, Grady County property in a backpack; LE found out that she had been beaten & died on Dec. 25, 2022 from Alysia’s interrogation; Id’d on Jan. 26, 2023) - *Jasmin Adina Kay Brownfield aka Karma Adina Kay Tucker (27/now 30) "bio mom" charged (5/4/23), arrested & extradited (5/5/23) & arraigned (3/15/24) with 2 counts of felony child neglect by abandonment. Plead not guilty. Bond $100K. Caddo County
Trial was set to begin on 9/23/24 was continued with no further dates.
