Lawton man arrested for death of five-month-old daughter

A Lawton man is under arrest for first-degree murder in the death of his five-month-old daughter.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of NW 14th Street on December 27 due to a 911 call that a child was not breathing. The five-month-old was taken to Comanche County Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

20-year-old Christian Rowson told police he was at home with the baby in a bouncer next to him when the baby started to cry, and he picked her up, placed her on her stomach in her crib and hit the child in the back of the head with the palm of his hand.

Later in the afternoon Rowson noticed the child didn’t appear to be breathing. He then called 911. The Oklahoma Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be homicide by blunt force trauma to the head.

Rowson also confessed to multiple incidents where he struck the child in the head as well as tossing her into her crib because he was frustrated the child would not stop crying.

Babies cry. Babies need constant care.

Folks who just aren't ready for a baby need to use birth control. JMHO.

( Noticed ads for another type of long-term birth control in the upper arm. Lasts about 5 years. Who'd consider sending medical teams to every sophomore home room in the country??? Possibly too Orwellian I know. Guess I'm a grumpy old person. )

New details in Lawton child death, father formally charged

The arrest affidavit for a Lawton father charged in his daughter's murder reveals multiple incidents of abuse that possibly led to her death.

Christian Rowson, 20, was formally charged Monday with murder in the first degree, child abuse. He was arrested last week following the death of his five-month-old daughter, Alayne, on December 27.

According to police, Rowson was at a home on NW 14th Street smoking marijuana and playing video games when his daughter started to cry from her bouncer next to him. He picked her up and placed her into the crib on her stomach, police said.

Rowson allegedly then told investigators he struck the back of Alayne's head with the palm of his hand. Later that afternoon, Rowson said he noticed his daughter was not breathing so he called 911.

Long time lurker but first post. This is going on in my town. We have talked to the accused many times since he worked at a little store by our home. From all accounts, his daughter was his world. It just goes to show that people are not always as they seem

Long ago my great-uncle was stationed at Fort Sill, I've visited Lawton. Any plans for a memorial for Alayne?

Peace & rest to all who know the family, Laughing
