Prosecutors rejected a plea agreement which would have given Bobbi Parker immunity, stating that the investigation is not over.

That's interesting, couldn't read link (or didn't want to register) so was Bobbi reluctant to talk about her role in his escape unless she got immunity - if she was taken and held against her will, why would she want immunity?

Sorry 'bout that, Peggy. I must be registered, because I just click on the link and it takes me directly to the article. I'll excerpt for you:

McALESTER, Okla. - Prosecutors offered then rescinded a plea agreement that would have granted immunity to the wife of an assistant warden who disappeared more than 10 years ago with an inmate, the prisoner claims.

In a letter to the Tulsa World, Randolph Dial said that he, his attorneys and Greer County District Attorney John Wampler had agreed to the deal before a preliminary hearing last week, but Wampler withdrew it.

Wampler, to whom the newspaper faxed a portion of Dial's letter that was addressed to him, said he and Dial's public defenders had discussed a guilty plea, but a promise that Bobbi Parker or anyone else would be shielded from possible prosecution wasn't included.

"There's no way on earth that I would enter into such a plea agreement, and an agreement like that would be very odd - the investigation isn't even done yet," Wampler said.

"Mr. Dial wants to try and control the conduct of the prosecution of this case and I don't intend to allow that to happen."

Dial waived his right to the preliminary hearing and a formal arraignment date was set for Aug. 4.

In the letter, Dial wrote that he would plead guilty to the escape charge that was filed when authorities said he fled the Oklahoma State Reformatory in Granite in 1994. He would plead guilty to kidnapping Bobbi Parker should charges ever be brought, and serve five years after his life sentence for murdering martial arts instructor Kelly Hogan was complete, Hogan wrote.

The only catch was that prosecutors couldn't charge Bobbi Parker or anyone else for allegedly helping him to escape or harboring him afterward.

"My reason for offering the above terms is obvious and quite simple," Dial wrote, addressing Wampler.

"First, I am guilty of both crimes. Second ... I alone kidnapped her and immediately placed a terrible yoke of fear upon every aspect of her life for 10 1/2 years..."

It sounds as though Dial wanted immunity for Bobbi, but the prosecutors won't agree to that since their investigation isn't over....

Thanks for posting article, strange. In a way, Dial just keeps bringing attention to fact that Bobbi didn't go willingly, I don't know what to think anymore about this. Guess it will go to trial now since he waived prelim, sure he won't see light of day anymore anyway, and as far as Bobbi, who knows.

Latest update, just in case anyone else is still following this case:

A decision is to be made regarding charges against Dial and whether or not Bobbi Parker is to be charged with anything.

Thanks for the update. Someone brought this up recently when they were talking about the older kid that was found recently. They wondered if these 2 cases were similar in how the 'hostages' reacted.

Wouldn't it make a difference if you were an adult and went because you wanted to go and if you are a little child and are abducted? I've always thought that Bobby went because she had a thing for the guy.

Bobbi Parker was arrested today. The prosecutor says she was romantically involved with Dial (who has since died in prison) and helped him escape by hiding him in her car.

Being from the area, I followed this case from day one. I found it absurd to think that Bobbi was actually kidnapped. When they found her with Dial on the chicken farm and she went back to hubby...I was gobsmacked (to borrow a phrase from our dear UK pals)!! I believe this arrest came much too late since Dial is now dead.

this makes much more sense than she stayed with him for 10 years because he scared her.

No one knows the Randolph Dial case any better than Charles Sasser. He says a Texas district attorney's decision to file charges against Bobbi Parker was overdue.

"It's about time, it took him long enough to do it," said author Charles Sasser.

~snip~

Sasser is a former Tulsa homicide detective who wrote a book about the case.

This is what I always believed to be true. The prosecutor and FBI took a good long time investigating to be SURE they got it right, and I believe they did. She worked closely with Dial in the prisons art program, and considering the length of time she stayed with him without ever making any attempt to contact her family or LE, it's just obvious to me she was a willing participant in her "kidnapping." No way would I ever believe that she was so stupid that she thought Dial would kill her and her family if she tried to escape---she knew LE would be on top of her and her family to protect them all, and more importantly, on top if Dial if she just dialed 911.

Her poor husband and daughters.

With Dial maintaining the kidnapping/escape story, it made it difficult for LE to prove otherwise. Bobbi and Dial had their stories straight except it never made any sense and she could have easily escaped from him. She never tried. Not once.

I could not believe her husband took her back either! Now, her children are going to suffer more because she will be proven to be a liar and a cheat who did leave them for that disgusting man. How much pain can this woman cause her family for her decisions?! I hope she rots for everything she has brought upon her family.
