Volunteers search for Edmond man missing since June | KFOR.com Oklahoma City

Aug 1
Volunteers with the OKCM Search & Rescue Team gathered to search for an Edmond man who’s been missing since June. Jacobs was last seen at Arcadia Lake on June 16. His red Ford pickup was recovered in the Choctaw area.
Brian Smith, State Coordinator for OKCM Search & Rescue, says Jacobs’ truck was found near the railroad tracks stuck.

The Search
•This is the third search the group has done since he went missing.
•“Based on the condition and the weather – his condition and the weather – we feel like, if he stayed on the railroad tracks, 10 miles in either direction is the outside range of how far he probably could’ve walked,” Smith said.
•The goal of this search was to rule out the area of the railroad tracks.
•Smith says they were not able to find anything relating to Jacobs today.

Next Step
Smith is asking anyone who lives or owns property along the Arkansas-Oklahoma line or from Sooner Road in Del City to McLoud along the tracks to check around.

“If you could go out to where your property meets the tracks and clear those wooded areas yourself, just make sure he didn’t cross a fence, or get caught up trying to climb a fence and get stuck. We’ve seen that before – people get caught up in a barbed wire fence, and that’s where they expire,” he said.

Group Organizes Large Scale Search For Missing Edmond Man

An extensive search was conducted Saturday in the area where his abandoned pickup truck was found in Choctaw. Several agencies, including Oklahoma City Search and Rescue, spent hours on foot looking Saturday.

The pickup was found on the railroad tracks in Choctaw between Northeast 23rd and 36th.

"We are basically searching the railroad tracks from Del City into McLoud," Oklahoma City Metro Search and Rescue State Search Coordinator Brian Smith said. "That's 10 miles in each direction from where his truck was found."

Search crews believe he may have gotten lost in the woods after he was forced to leave his truck behind.

Snipped

“Going down the railroad tracks is something he commonly did, things that he did before, traveling along the railroad tracks,” Smith said.

Has anyone said what it is he "commonly did" along the RR tracks? I wonder what the argument was about. Where'd you go, Bruce?

Very far from where he was last seen. Is there another thread for these remains?
Very far? His camper was at Arcadia Lake, his truck was recovered in Choctaw, he is from Edmond and these remains were located in OK City. Maybe I've mapped it incorrectly. I've not started a UID thread.

I kept thinking about your reply and my response. I then realized we've probably got different suspicions about what might be the reason for Bruce's disappearance. I suppose you're thinking he voluntarily left on foot along the route LE has searched. I, OTOH, tend to believe he most likely met with foul play. 3 reasons: argument; potential drug buy (from OKC?), random robbery. I also have a hard time believing he'd leave his truck behind to jump the rails on his adventure to start a new life. Based on that theory, I can't help but wonder if he met with foul play and was buried in OKC.

No, you are correct I just assumed the remains would not be his because I had watched a new story not shared here yet. It said the remains were skeletonized. I had also missed the part about his truck being recovered in Choctaw. I will have to go back and read that. Here is the other story about the remains. It didn't sound like they were buried or hidden really. They were surprised they hadn't been discovered.

“It’s pretty clear that these remains have been here for quite some time because they’re completely skeletonized,” Oklahoma City Police Capt. Jeff Spruill said.

If he regularly drove the train tracks, I find it hard to believe that he'd get his truck stuck. I can, on the other hand, see someone getting it stuck on the tracks purposely. What I'm trying to say is that someone staged that truck. (IMO)
