I've got to say, I would never allow my children in a home with a pitbull, no matter how nice the dog might be. They snap... it's been proven time and time again. I wouldnt allow my children around one.

I agree. Pit bulls virtually NEVER EVER attack an able bodied man or woman, usually a child or an old man or woman or pregnant woman. They don't seem to attack in defense, the way other dogs will attack someone who is hurting them. Vets tell stories of working on pit bulls in horrible pain, and the dogs submit. To men, or to other figures who appear authoritative. They maul the weak and frightened exclusively.

The thing is almost all pit bulls seem extremely tolerant of children, but then WHAM they explode. It's just so bizarre to me - most dogs you can predict, those ones, it's like roulette. *tick tick tick tick tick . . .*

The faullt in this case lies not with the dog,but with the person responsible for the child.It is said the dog had no violent history,obviously no one was watching the child,and the attack was not witnessed.It seems quite possible that the child could have in some way antagonized the dog,maybe he pulled its tail or was poking it ...The dog was tied/confined,so the child did have to venture into its territory.No real way of knowing what rally happened here its all speculation at best.BUT there is no speculation in the simple FACT that someone is an unfit gaurdian here.Should have euthanized them and let the dog live....IMO

No, proadvocate. The problem is the dog. Children belong in human society, dogs that kill children don't belong there. The problem is, dogs that kill children don't belong there. And people who don't supervise their DOGS well enough to keep them from killing children also don't belong in the public.
