The police (Yahoo article) mentioned syringes, a dog leash, and a dog collar at the park. The same article mentions how he controlled her. It sounds like she was just a toy for his sick fantasies, and the people around her didn't stop him 
Plus, he assaults and kills his much younger sister at an elementary school playground of all places. I'm thinking we're going to learn more about this Cody and his proclivities. JMO.

"They went home?" Was she even alive and/or conscience when they left the school? She had noticeable injuries and was non-responsive, but they didn't call an ambulance? He had an incestual relationship with her for "years", was controlling of her, and no-one in the family stopped this?! How are we reading about this? I agree, reminds me of Brittney Wood. What else will we hear about others in the family? Where are the parents?

She was unconscious at the playground, and he carried her home. Then the 'family' took her to the hospital the following morning but she was already dead.
Per News9:
Police said Garde went on to confess he continued to beat her while they engaged in sexual activity before he carried her back home. By morning-- investigators said Heather had died.
"She was then taken to the hospital where she was deceased," Arterbury said.

Omg, how vile but it doesn’t surprise me. <modsnip> I know…Anyways, this is my state and I too am horrified, never mind what it makes us look like as a community of people. Oklahoma is a poor state but that’s no damn excuse.I’m embarrassed but I stand up for the good hard working citizens but we are not good at oversight! There are probably more horror stories than that…What the heck is up with Oklahoma? My heart hurts. WS has seen some horrific stories out of there in the past year or so, including:

Persons who, being within the degrees of consanguinity within which marriages are by the laws of the state declared incestuous and void, intermarry with each other, or commit adultery or fornication with each other, shall be guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections not exceeding ten (10) years. Except for persons sentenced to life or life without parole, any person sentenced to imprisonment for two (2) years or more for a violation of this subsection shall be required to serve a term of post-imprisonment supervision pursuant to subparagraph f of paragraph 1 of subsection A of Section 991a of Title 22 of the Oklahoma Statutes under conditions determined by the Department of Corrections. The jury shall be advised that the mandatory post-imprisonment supervision shall be in addition to the actual imprisonment.
This is shocking. If this has been going on for years then it would have been sexual abuse because she was only 18 when she died. It really seems like he did not hide what was happening because the family knew and said he was controlling of her. How could they know and not do anything about it.

The arrest warrant claims Colleen, their mother, knew about the murder after Cody called her saying Heather was dead. According to the court documents, it took several interviews for Colleen to admit to investigators what she knew.
Initially, their mother allegedly told investigators she just "stopped by" the house and didn't know what happened to Heather. Then, she told police when she arrived, Cdoy had a "stone cold" look on his face and stated something bad had happened.
He said, "You don't wanna know," and started screaming. When she went inside, she found Heather dead. She allegedly told investigators she knew it was him who killed her.
