I am just kind of jumping here. I was reading back in the beginning of the thread and I believe it said that his vehicle was found at Fort Hood? Please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that where Whitney Heichel's body was found? That just kind of stuck out to me and I may be wrong about Daryn's car being found there. Is this ringing bells with anyone else? Like I said I am just kind of reading at the beginning of this. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong! Just my 2 coppers :)

Near Mount Hood, Oregon...
Fort Hood is in Texas. :)
I bet you meant to say Mount Hood since you mentioned Whitney Heichel.

I guess I kind of had tunnel vision just a tad, just never even thought of that angle. May I ask, what part would the suit being in his back seat play into this? That is where you lost me...(I can be really slow...lol)...ty

It is not uncommon for a suicide to indicate or lay out burial clothes.

Sorry Steadfast and apologies to whoever did post that! :)

Just whilst we're on the more gruesome of thoughts, it did cross my mind tonight as I was walking home that it may have been a suicide. :( What with where the car was found, and the kitty gone.

I am still holding out hope though and still leaning more towards a planned disappearance. I dont want to dwell on any of my more negative instincts. In my gut, I think he'll be home soon. :)

I think that's most probable, too, graceholl!

It's possible that he boarded gypsy at a kennel during his vacation, and planned to pick it up monday after work? His phone was offl/direct to voice mail so the kennel wouldn't be able to reach him, and lack of media coverage may not have alerted them of the situation. This explains why the cat carrier is missing.

I think this could well be the case, too. If it wasn't planned, anyway.

If memory serves, Whitney Heichel's body was found on Larch Mountain, which would be over a hundred miles from where the Collie vehicle was located. I may be wrong - always that chance!

I made that mistake too at first - "Fort Hood? That ain't in Oregon, it's right there outside Killeen!" lol.

I just read up on that case, wow, how sad. I hadn't heard about it.

The article I read said Latch Mountain so yes I'm guessing you're right! :)

Okay, just been over to the FB page. We have some insiders trying to join who are having trouble. It would be really great to have them over here with us. :)

Have read a bit but not all pages -- I need to go back and do so.

Just popping in until I know more concrete facts and can try to help. What did strike me is how there are several active searches for a few other missing persons' in the Northern Cali and Oregon area right now.

First quick thought without knowing the full history - if his cat is missing, I believe that there is a good chance that he did not committ suicide. If he loves his cat the way I believe him to, I can't imagine him abandoning or allowing the cat to be in harm's way.

I do think that he left on his own accord. I want to find out why, so I better read back!

just Dropping a note to say Hi, I'm SOC the Admin in the FB page. Just letting everybody know who I am and offering any aid I can.

Okay, let's assume that, for whatever reason, someone wanted to drive the 1800+ miles (iirc) from OK to OR to dump a vehicle, then wanted to get back to OK. A quick perusal of Portland Int'l. indicates no direct flights back to the Sooner State; looks like the best one could do is to fly directly into Austin via SW Airlines, then fly back into the City (or Tulsa) and be home, or close to it.

A long shot, true, but those would be the approximate logistics of such a scenario.

Welcome to Websleuths, Tulsaogre! It is great to have you here!
:wagon:

Hi all, I spent many hours yesterday and today reading up on this case. It is frustrating that it has not gotten more media attention.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I don't have much free time, but I am very experienced at doing research. (30+ years, even before the internet.)

(Clang-clang, etc.) Extremely chatty bellringer announces that "At 3:32 p.m. CT, it's hot where I am and the cement burned my bare feet when I went out to fetch back the trash bin from the curb awhile ago. No new MSM on DRC's case - and yes, I checked the Oregonian and the Seattle Times, thank you very much. OK's own Daily Disappointment's top online story at this hour concerns the death of Boone Pickens's grandson and an indictment in the matter. And that was in Texas," he added, a note of contempt in his voice.

I am only starting on about post #300 but I have a question I want to ask before it slips out of my mind...

I googled this Job Corps. place in Guthrie and it says it is closed on Sundays (and Sat.).
How was his brother at this place on Sunday night?
Is it just "office hours" they list and maybe it is a 24/7 place for other types of activity?

I have to think this has come up, maybe I just didn't catch it in my reading as of yet, so sorry to be redundant if that is the case.

ETA- Never mind, answered my own question. I see that people live there. Sorry all!

But why drive all the way to Oregon?
Do you think then, it is possible, then that the reason the car is out of gas and pulled in backwards at the trailhead, is for carbon monoxide to fill the car? (In the winter people have died of carbon monoxide poisoning because although they were parked, trying to keep warm, there was not enough room/space from where the snow drift was to the tail pipe so they died of carbon monoxide poisoning). Was he parked next to brush so that that is a possibility that could have happened...but it didn't happen, because he wasn't found in the car....
I personally don't feel it was suicide.
I am just throwing this scenario out there seeing as there's so many ways to look at why the car was out of gas, and if you are supposing along those lines....I just wanted to add something else to think about....

Daryn is someone who is involved in a number of fantasy/role playing interests. I can see the ultimate fantasy being to drive to a beautiful mountain area and end it all. Quite frankly, yes I can see that all too well.

He's providing his "final resting place" clothes for the undertaker when he's found. MOO.

But, if this was his final wish, why remove yourself from the vehicle to do so? Without wanting to be crude, if that was his intention, he could have ended it in that car quite easily. Or at least just outside of it.

JMO. Totally agree with you about the laptop. That, and wherever little Gypsy is, are the keys here IMO...possibly dependant on whatever scenario is going on.

Yes, I can understand where you are coming from.
I just wonder why Oregon?
There are closer states, like Colorado, for example, that have beautiful mountains, too.
I wonder if Daryn always wanted to go to Oregon. Maybe that was on his bucket list, and maybe his list was full now.
