snipped

In some ways this reminds me of the girl (don't recall the name) that disappeared from DFW airport last year. She attended a family celebration and then failed to get on her return flight home. She was finally found several months later having started a new life. Daryl similarly attended a family celebration and disappeared immediately on his return home.

OT - I remember her but not the name. Glad to hear she was found! I missed that. What a relief for the family. :)

quoting myself - has this been confirmed anywhere else?
It was neither confirmed by HRC in their press release nor in the only MSM article to date.

For our Furry experts:

Per Daryn's fiance (so yes, he was in a committed relationship). Daryn did not have a "fur suit?" He had a "feline costume?" Can ya'll enlighten us?

Daryn has a fiance.

Hey Elainera: I've asked the family about that and will post as soon as I hear. :seeya:

One thing about the finger nails, is I knew a man who played the banjo and he had a titanium thumb spike. He used it for banjo string plucking. He said it's not common but he knew others who did it so your nail is not filed off all the time by strings. But he didn't have all the nails pointed. Sooo, does Daryn play an instrument? Is he in a band?

Sophiebelle: Family says that the nail is part of Daryn's "fursona" good thought about him playing an instrument! But no, he's not in a band or anything according to my niece-in-law and her mom.

ANSWERS TO SOME QUESTIONS SUBMITTED TO FAMILY:

As I mentioned just a bit ago, Daryn was engaged. He and his fiance were planning on moving in together shortly. She had no indication that he was wanting to leave on a trip, run off to start a new life, or anything of that nature. Neither she, Daryn's dad, or Daryn's step-mom knew he had a Passport. His mother, however, states that she knew he had the Passport.

It's quite likely then that this was an abduction :(

Did you unconsciously use the past tense? :(

I also have a bad feeling I have to admit.

Not looking good, is it, Elainera?

Family says that Daryn (as with many Furries) liked to "meet" people online and then meet them in person. LE is aware of this, and they are thoroughly checking his laptop.

He also liked to pick up hitchhikers. :(

Oh Gawd. :silenced:

Yes it was subconscious. But yes, what with some of the information that has come out in the last day plus...I do fear the worst!:anguish:

That is what I suspect too. Although I lean more towards a hitchhiker or a carjacking. If he'd planned to meet up with another furry he would probably have mentioned this to his brother. Instead he said he's going home to sleep.

No, not looking good I'm afraid. It's been two weeks.

Where are you Daryn?

Re the gas cap question: The family isn't sure if Daryn has a locking gas cap; but they note that a lot of the newer cars are "syphon-proof." Apparently they feel that Daryn's car falls under this category.

My thoughts keep coming back to Daryn .... he seems so nice and he seems to be a people's person, open hearted. And an animal lover. I'm hoping against all odds that he will turn up ok!

If this indeed was an abduction shouldn't police concentrate on the route he took from Guthrie to his home? CCTV, asking people if they saw something? And shouldn't this be treated as a criminal case and FBI be involved? How long is the drive from Guthrie to his appartment? Was it dark when he drove back after dropping his brother off?

Just looked on the map - maybe 70 miles? Roughly an hour? One and a half hours drive? The time he dropped off his brother was 9:30 pm. How hard can it be to go through CCTV footage between 9:30 pm and 11 pm on the I-35? He must be on some footage!

Just saw a new post on the fb page to find Daryn. They were looking at CCTV footage but apparently only the one at the Job Corp in Guthrie. He was seen at 9:37 pm dropping off his brother. The person also says that Daryn said he wanted to be back home by 10 pm to get enough sleep. Now that sounds a bit unlikely to me, can you really make the trip Guthrie - Del City in 25 minutes? Did he race back home I wonder ... if his car hadn't been found many miles away I would have now said he might have had an accident because of speeding.

There is a rest stop about halfway between Guthrie and OKC. I am on my phone, so it is hard to see the Google map. It appears pretty large but I wonder how busy it was late on a Sunday night. Wonder if Daryn could have possibly stopped there if he needed a break from driving. If I was in a hurry to get home I would choose a rest stop over a convience market... even though those things do give me the creeps at night.

Deca...upthread you mentioned that maybe he had lost his job and hadn't told his family; that possibly he had an interview out in OR. I can see that happening...and then something went terribly wrong.

I don't know that area at all, but I do know these "hill" roads in NWA. Is it possible he ran out of gas, tried to walk to get gas, got hit by a car and wound up in a ravine? The information relayed was that Daryn's vehicle was located, "...on a roadside near a trail in Hood River County, Oregon which is near Mt. Hood." Are there lots of drop-offs along those roads...ones without barriers?

ETA: Also excellent point about the fur in the car. Nervous cats do shed an awful lot.

And if any locals know if it is usual to have hitchers at that rest stop?
Here in OR there is rarely a hitcher I have seen at the rest area (lots in the towns, though). But in central CA, many hitchers at the rest areas.

Have there been any other people missing from the OK area in the same time frame?

UPDATE REGARDING CAR AND LOCATION

This is the report the family received from OR LE with regard to the car's location and more specifics:

The vehicle had been backed up to an embankment in a trail parking area about 15 to 20 feet from the road (Highway 35) near the head of the Zig-Zag Trail which leads to the Dawn River Trail to the Surveyor's Bridge Trail.

The car was literally out of gas, the front license plate removed and placed behind the front seat, the front interior of the car had been completely cleaned out (no candy/food wrappers, gas station receipts, etc.).

There was not a cell phone in the SUV.

There was a single car key in the car, not in the ignition (he couldn't recall for sure w/o checking w/his detectives, but he thought the lone key was found in the center console).

It is highly unusual for Daryn to keep his car so neat and tidy according to the family.

The detective said they will pursue a criminal investigation as well as continue the ongoing missing person search and investigation.

However, he felt fairly confident Daryn was not currently on the mountain where the SUV was parked.
