Good point. But what can this hypothetical carjacker be thinking. Would he/she really be thinking, "Hey, I think I'll grab this attention-getting car." I mean, that could be on a segment of "Are You Stupider Than Jodi Arias?"

Well, the license plate tag was Not put on upside down. :) :)

But where's the panicked necessity? Was there a nearby robbery? Has a parolee disappeared from the Job Corps? I don't think the Job Corps is a jail exactly. There's just no evidence that a panicked person was out on that road so desperate to get to Oregon that he/she would take a very noticeable car.
On another note, would someone willing to steal a car leave a closed suitcase in that car without riffling through it? Would he/she then close it back up?

Last night...or the night before...heck at this point I can't remember...I had started sleuthing robberies/other major crimes/prison escapes in states east of OK to determine if maybe someone had stolen a car at their initial run point, run out of money/gas or the car had broken down in OKC, and they needed another car to get on their way to their designated end point of OR. Someone else subsequently had ideas in this same direction.

I never got back to that researching due to the traffic of the thread, etc. Now that things are slowing down a little, hopefully I can work on that tonight or tomorrow.

Although if I don't get to WallyWorld and get some tp soon, this mouse is going to be using a litter box!!!

Do we know what Daryn's furry nickname was?

Pretty sure it's Darraby. It's the name used on fur sites who have given their readers head's-ups on the case.

Hmmm...good question. Not that I've seen anyway, no.
I find that sort of unusual. Nowadays, younger people seem ready to document every aspect of their lives in pictures uploaded online.

Will keep looking around.

I wonder if Daryn took his furry costume with him. If he took it then that could possibly indicate that he was meeting up with another person from a furry group. I have been googling furry conventions in Oregon.

There is one in Oregon in August 1-5.

http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Campfire_Tails

http://campfiretails.org/2013/

Here is a list of the larger costume conventions in 2013. (Lots of different kinds of costumes.)

http://www.costume.org/conventions.html

I was also thinking, if one of the Furry Group, lived in Portland or nearby Portland, is it possible then, that that person could have flown into Oklahoma City, and was waiting for Daryn, but he didn't show up, as he was taking his brother back to Guthrie? And perhaps an argument ensued, and this person then did not have funds to fly back to Oregon, hence the carjacking?? And something very bad happened to Daryn....
I know this is far fetched, but just throwing out an idea of why a person would have a need to drive all the way to Oregon.
If this is too way out there, I apologize.... just thinking out loud...... In My Opinion

Yeppers. Darraby. Feline persona. "Cat costume," not "fursuit."

Ach, the things we are learning in this case! But then someone who calls herself my_tee_mouse and sits around all day posting in a Mickey Mouse robe complete with ears on the hood is a hella one to talk! :blushing:

True enough! What with everyone having cameras on their phones, camera-friendly texting, and sites like Instagram, seems like everywhere you turn folks are taking pix of themselves and "sharing" them all over the place...whether the recipients want to see them or not!!!

I'm looking on craigslist to see if anyone was wanting to share a ride toward Oregon, etc. I haven't found anything yet.

Well...actually I found some "faeries" (fairies) along with their pics who want to share ride/gas to convention in TN.

Good idea! And here's hoping LE is looking into some craigslist archives along the same lines, yannow? :)

:scared: I'd be too scared. LOL

You'd be shocked/amazed at how many people put up posts. Some want rides...some are offering rides.

I didn't realize that his car was found just on the border of Washington. My geography skills are lacking tonight...:blushing:.

This one here says Albany Tribune from June 8th, so Daryn is getting some media exposure besides OregonLive.

http://www.albanytribune.com/080620...ahoma-authorities-with-missing-persons-case‏/

"The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Guthrie, Oklahoma Police Department with an investigation into the disappearance of thirty-two year old Daryn Ray “Darraby” Collie of Del City, Oklahoma."

  • #477
The two MSM sources have only echoed the sheriff's statement. No independent reporting.

We can link to facebook as long as its a FB devoted to finding Daryn and there seems to be family involved. No discussion of what's on FB is allowed here. You can however link to the FB page and say check out the comment at 9:30 Saturday night, but that's all. Any questions, just let me know :-)

Social Networks
Regarding Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and other social networking or blog websites: Links may be used to direct posters to view something on a social networking page. But postings on social networking sites are not considered fact; they are rumor. Copying and pasting, or taking screen caps, directly from these pages is not allowed. Paraphrasing is okay. (Exception: If the Twitter or Facebook post belongs to a verified news station, it may be copied. But a link should still be provided.)
Also, social networking pages may only be linked if they are directly related to a case, i.e. the victim or suspect. We don't want to post to someone's mother, brother, employer, milkman, or postal carrier just because they know the main player. We also NEVER link to minor's pages (unless they are the victim). And be sure that the page actually belongs to the person being discussed. Do not link to someone if you are not 100% sure it is the correct person. And if a social networking is set to private and you get in the back way, you may not post what you find. Private means private!

Thanks everyone!

Ima

Just curious. Are there any pictures of Daryn with his gf around? Don't know if I've seen any.
Hoping to find those in the RF pics.

Thanks, AVeritas re heads up on the correction of the names.

OK. Back to Steadfast's question about input on the timeline. In light of the fact that even family is having a hard time keeping specifics pin-point accurate, I'm going in the, "Let's keep the timeline strictly for MSM/LE information only" column, although I have to say that, having seen some of mistakes MSM has made lately, just adding their info is pushing it! But hey, we've got rocks and sticks to work with now, so we need to add that info at least.

ETA: This looks like a good time to state that I've told family that after the last questions submitted to them, I won't be submitting any more until there's new developments. They need a break, and there's not really anything more they can provide, especially if we are treating their information/verification as "third party." And that's cool with me, and I fully understand why it may be prudent to go that route. So I'll post any answers I get from that list when I get answers, and then we'd best get a road trip to OR and OK together to camp out on MSM's doorsteps so we can get answers.

I'm not treating the family's info as third party in most circumstances. For instance, when the stepmom says she called Daryn on the evening of the 26th, I consider that as good a fact as we're going to get. But if she writes that Daryn and his brother went back to Daryn's to pick up a backpack, then she only knows this because the brother told her, and I think it is on less solid ground info-wise. Same as if she relates something that JJ has told her. If LE tells her something and she relates it, that seems solid. But if she writes that JJ has told her that LE said something, then no. I believe the stepmother, but I have no reason to trust that she has good judgement about whether other people are telling the truth or not or whether they are remembering correctly.
Did that make sense to anyone?
