Nodding my head as I read this. Yeah, drownings take the coverage. There is a known victim, and often the victim is a young adult or younger. And you have those stories about semi-stars who get "drawnk" and drive a boat; and when I saw the "naked teen" story, I knew that would "trump" Daryn's story.

*Sigh. If only there was something about this particular missing person's "story" that had an edge to it.* Something that would make it just pop out and beat out what certain spoiled repeat offenders wore to court; what bad some bad boy pro football player did at a probation plea hearing to tick off a judge; and the story of the woman with 45,000 fridge magnets.

If only.
I had hoped that the Disappeared Man a Furry Fandom Fan angle would provide a bit of a hook. Guess not.

Thanks for keeping lookout, wfgodot. Let's hope we have some more coverage soon! :please:

I am really feeling for Daryn's family and friends today. They must be worried sick. :( It is easy to put aside the human feeling behind cases like this, but trying for a moment to put myself in their shoes, the thought is just devastating.

I feel the most for his mom and step-mom. They must be run slap ragged at this point: Scared, hoping against hope for the best and yet fearing the worst; dealing with the demands of life that must continue despite the overtime-demanding tasks associated with keeping on top of the efforts to find their son; dealing with total strangers and relying on total strangers for answers and clues to how this happened and what exactly happened. And the worst...and I'm brought to tears just thinking about this because it is a parent's worst nightmare: Closing their eyes and having to fight back the visions of their loved one just lying in a ditch somewhere. *Everything needs to be done that can be to wipe those visions out of their minds forever.*

Okay, I hope I'm following the correct instructions as given by imamaze. (Thank you, btw, for that clarification!) If I'm not please feel free to remove or modify! :)

I just thought that the comment left by his girlfriend at 00:44 GMT (you will have to minus the time difference depending where you are!) is really interesting. Her thoughts on the case so far...it seems she is thinking along the same lines as so many of us, myself included.

The post is here. Scroll to the bottom for the comment!

ETA my own thoughts...I am thinking along her lines. And I also want to add, the thing that kinda makes me believe it the most is that the cat is missing too. It was so precious to him, by the sounds of it. I think it's either with him, or he has made sure it's safe. It would just be too much of a coincidence that the cat was suddenly missing too.

I can feel her pain, it is palpable, however I believe it was the ignition key found in the center console.

I truly hope is friend has a good support system at this time, with a sick baby and DC missing, I am sure she is hurting bad and worn down. IMHO

So right about the cat. In a way it all comes down to the cat. I know men whose cats rule the roost, and there's no way Daryn just let this cat out to fend for herself. Yes, this cat has either enjoyed a journey that would have made Toonces envious, or this cat is basking in the warm glow of a new home with a new daddy and/or mommy.

It's odd, though, that we have not been able to come up with a description of this cat by now, isn't it? I mean, pet owners are as bad, if not worse, than baby parents when it comes to showing off their pets in photo and video form. And yet we still don't have a description of Gypsy that would enable us to check with all boarders and animal shelters in the area.

Surely to goodness the close friends of Daryn's have met in person and seen photos of this cat and can supply a good description. Another point of frustration here.

I had hoped that the Disappeared Man a Furry Fandom Fan angle would provide a bit of a hook. Guess not.

I think from MSM's perspective, this looks so much like a voluntary disappearance that they aren't interested. Also, I think there's a prejudice in Oklahoma that a "fringe-community" member should have known something was going to go wrong eventually, so whatever. Sad.

On the other hand, I think he probably left voluntarily, too, based on what we know so far. It's just that here at WS, we do our best to make sure nobody is forgotten and no victim is overlooked.

I am a total failure cannot figure out how to post this map to save my life....grrrrrr

I can see blue bubbly arrow things!!!! Is that what we're supposed to be able to see?!

I don't know if this could be of help in any way at all...but might Gypsy the cat be microchipped? If so, could we find out from local vets/animal welfare organisations in OK/OR if she may have been left with them?

My 3 cats and dog are too. I'm in the UK though. But I'm making an educated guess that as Daryn clearly adored that cat, it would have been to the vets a few times and would likely have been microchipped at some point (ours were offered it even at 6/7 years old)...so that might be worth a try, phoning up some local cat shelters?

Sad but true about the "fringe-community" member...sort of like blaming the girl for her own rape because she wore a short skirt..."She should have known!" or worse still, "She had it comin' to her!"

Yes, we don't want to fall into that evil area we often hear LE being accused of falling into: tunnel vision. We have to keep exploring all angles no matter what...if the trail leads us down it. And speaking of that:

*****I wish we had a log of how many hours WSers have put into working on finding Daryn. I think even we would be shocked. WSers have put aside their own lives to work for hours upon hours on end to find Daryn. I am actually worried about the health of a couple of our dedicated folks. They are pushing themselves past the limit to find Daryn. I know how hard it is to get rest, eat right, and even get fresh air while working toward that end, but please please please ya'll take care of yourselves! And remember that for every post we see here, there are any number of "behind-the-scenes" hours going into them. I keep telling ya'll you're aces among aces, and I'm not gonna stop tellin' ya now.*****

I did some digging on Oknoname, the body of water that you spoke of Mighty that is N of Job Corp. It a water table, and does not appear that many fish there as its private land. I did find two pictures and it appears the locals do hang out there as exhibited by the graffiti...

I am sure I read somewhere that he had recently adopted "Gypsy" from a rescue/shelter. Its true she may be microchipped, but if she is being boarded they would not feel the need to check the chip because they would know who the owner was. (the person who brought her in). Depending on if he adopted an adult cat, she may never have visited a vet yet also, as unless they get ill, many do not take pets to vet for just routine care. I do not take mine in unless they need something, just going off that.

Something bothers me badly at this point, it was written on facebook by JJ. It was in that post just above telling us to go read her comment. Please go look and see if you spot it also. Really bugging me....IMHO

I think its because he is a large male, fringe community member, MALE, Young Middle aged, all the tornado's in Oklahoma, and sorry guys...(I do love everybody) but the Oklahoma mindset.... Guthrie is not an easy city... sorry but I would not want to get missing there. I am hoping the LE has improved as its been years since I was there. But its a very nosey place, but then people refuse to speak up citing they are minding their business...lol IMHO

Good question, but IIRC she's not even spayed. If no one had her spayed, then I doubt she's been chipped (which sounds like she wasn't obtained from a shelter, does it? Don't all shelters insist animals be spayed/neutered before being adopted now?) But don't take that to the bank, because I cannot remember where I heard it.

Just thinking out loud here: If she had been adopted from a shelter, would it stand to reason that if Daryn did give her up, he would have returned to that same agency, or would he have been too embarrassed to "admit defeat" by having to give up the cat (i.e. admit that he wasn't capable of taking care of a little critter) and would have dropped her off at another shelter? It sure would be nice if someone knew where he obtained Gypsy. That would be the first place I'd look.

Well. Since we don't even have a description of Gypsy, finding her and any clues that tells us about Daryn's mindset/intent at the time he dropped her off will have to wait. I wanted that to be my project for today (and yesterday and the day before). Since we can't track the cat, I'll go back to looking for potential criminals/escapees from right coast left to see if someone might have needed Daryn's vehicle to further their escape. In other words, back to the drawing board.

Wait, why does JJ say Daryn didn't have a job or way to pay for his car? [according to Facebook NOT MSM or LE, but she posted this comment herself]. Weren't we told he was going home to get sleep before work?

Ok a few pages back I posted my opinion: he left voluntarily and has the cat. I also said it was so odd to me that he told his brother so specifically that he was going home to sleep, had to get there, needed to go to sleep by X:00 to get Y hours if sleep, etc. IMO that weirdness makes perfect sense if Daryn didn't actually have a job. BUT his employer was the one to call his parents when Daryn didn't show up for work right? So why is JJ saying he didn't have a job? I don't get it.
