If she's 55 years old and in a nursing home, something's really wrong. I hope she found a clean, warm, dry place somewhere and will be brought back safely, and soon.

I hope she is safe as well. But, her age doesn't stand out to me since she reportedly has a medical or physical disability.

What does get my attention is that she went missing at 9 p.m. on Saturday night and LE didn't enter the picture until approx 7:45 Sunday morning. This is a nursing home. They have nurses there, I assume? How was she missing all night long without being noticed? MOO

Someone in that nursing home must know something. How could she just walk away at 9PM and them wait until the next morning to notify authorities? Ugh! I suppose English Village Manor Nursing facility is hiring now, right?!?!

Many folks commenting at APD's FB post are ticked off and I can't say I blame them. Her family is also posting. Her brother, D.D., shared some disturbing information, imo. I hope they can find Helen soon.

I am so disgusted about the circumstances of Helena’s disappearance that when I read she may have been picked up by a man, I actually had a fleeting thought that that might be a good thing. Maybe he’d actually take care of her like the nursing home should have. I have now peeled myself off the ceiling and admit that this is in fact, not a good thing.

It does sound like LE is on top of it. They’ve brought in the FBI. That’s good – looks like she may have some ties to Colorado. Do we know if she has a cellphone? Hopefully so, and investigators are learning who she has had contact with. Does the nursing home keep visitor logs?

Here's my issue. 1st post says she went missing "around 9pm" could it be 7pm? Aren't these doors locked at least after visiting hours? Epic fail on this nursing home. In this day and age you should be buzzed in to see someone for security purposes and alarms for those who exit from side doors etc. Not to mention the Covid and nursing home issues to begin with?Huge flags IMO

The second thing the FBI needs to do after they find Helen is to start a criminal investigation into this nursing home. This is not okay on sooooo many levels. I don't care what or how many excuses the admin and staff come up with about how/why she left that facility. No explanation will justify no one noticing/reporting her missing until the next morning. NONE!

That's it...I gotta hush or I'll get banned from here.

The COVID issue was what I thought of, too, along with no one in the facility seeing her leave or not knowing until morning she was gone.
My 99 yo Mom moved into a nursing home last February. I saw her twice before the place was literally locked down. Once they had confirmed cases, the residents were not even allowed to leave their rooms, excepting baths/physical therapy. When the cases got high, there were a couple of weeks here and there where they were not allowed out of their rooms period. For any reason.

I know her facility is losing help right and left. People quitting at the drop of a hat and they’re really struggling with hiring new people. That might explain a situation where CNAs didn’t look into HDs room overnight.

Just my own experiences over the last year. MOO

I don't mean to be disrespectful so I hope this doesn't come across that way, but there is no way CNAs are so extremely busy during the night shift that they can't look into every resident's room. We're not talking about a bustling children's daycare center where the little ones are scurrying throughout hiding in little cracks and crevices or running off outside. Most of the residents at nursing facilities usually are sound asleep once the sun goes down. Few are gallivanting through the hallways or out of the exits. I really want to give the staff the benefit of the doubt, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how no one checked on her throughout the entire night. Staffing issues cannot be accepted as an excuse, imo. They are responsible for the safety and well-being of residents 24 hours a day w/ or w/o the appropriate amount of staff. If they can't provide the security promised to residents and families, then perhaps it's time to shut it down. MOO

I just want to say God bless you and your mother. What a sad, lonely situation. Prayers.

Two possibilities:
1) if she was unhappy with the fact that she was in a nursing home and had an ally wanting to help her get out, she might have made it look like she was in her bed and snuck out. If she has early onset dementia, for instance, she might be capable of being sneaky.

2) she might have had the freedom to leave with specific people, and left with an approved person and then never returned. My mother used to take my grandmother on drives and to Sonic when she was in a nursing home with dementia.

I totally agree YaYa. To be honest I have no clue what the night protocol is like. I’ll have to ask my mother. Just relating her experiences over the past year.

I would of thought security was even more strict with covid.
they should not have had people walking round at night.
I would be devastated if this was my loved one.
surely there is at least one check of each residents rooms late at night to check everyone is in bed or safe in their rooms. They could be stuck after an accident in the bathroom or anything really.

Helen is still missing according to APD's replies to a couple of comments just a few hours ago. There is an interesting comment by W.B. who claims to be a family member.

She posted that she is safe and happy. I would think they are still going to try and locate her to verify. IMO
