A woman and a 12-year-old child were killed in Moore, 75 miles northwest of Ada, after their vehicle got swept away by floodwaters.

'At the time of the incident all but two occupants were rescued.
'This was a historical weather event that impacted roads and resulted in dozens of high-water incidents across the city.'

Clint Byley, a spokesperson for the Moore Police Department, said responders at the scene learned that a total of five people had been inside the two vehicles that got caught about 9 p.m. April 19 in floodwaters near SE 12 and Eastern.
"Three of them were rescued and two had gone missing. We later recovered the bodies of two of the victims," Byley said.
Though the victims have been identified and next of kin has been notified, the department has not released the names of the victims but will do so at a later date out of respect for the families of the victims, police said.
Byley said the Moore police department opened an investigation into the cause of the incident, which involved a lifted truck and a jeep that became submerged under a bridge, which led to the deaths.
"The exact cause, however ... I mean, of course, we had a significant high-water situation, but we are trying to investigate that to figure out what direction the vehicle was traveling, how it got stuck underneath the bridge in that area and got stuck. There's a lot of moving parts to it, so that'll be all part of the investigation that we will start today."
The police department estimated that flooding caused waters to rise to around six to eight inches where the fatalities occurred.
The Moore Police Department expressed their grief in a social media post and said the "historical" weather event resulted in dozens of high-water incidents across the city.
"At the time of the incident, all but two occupants were rescued. It is with great sadness that we report that two individuals, an adult female and a 12-year-old male, were later located deceased," the department wrote in a Facebook post.
