I see that she was in the military. Wonder if its possible her killer had the exact same background.

Was she reported missing ?

No mention of her husband.....Chadwick Ryan Carr married Feb 1979 in Nevada. Why was she assumed to be affiliated or killed by a gang as it turns out she was as military veteran ? Based on the bullet caliber only ?

From what I hear she was, but it got cleared because some woman in Ohio was using her identity.
Wow wonder how often that happens!

Officials with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said for nearly 40 years, they worked to identify the victim.

With help from DNA Doe Project, the Sheriff’s Office announced during a news conference on Thursday that they were able to identify the victim as Tamara Lee Tigard.

The process of obtaining usable DNA from the remains was challenging, officials said. The DNA was finally sequenced by Hudson Alpha Discovery and the results were uploaded to GEDmatch. Within a day and a half DDP’s team of volunteer genealogists identified a likely name for Lime Lady.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identification of Tigard in December 2019 through a match of dental records obtained from the United States Army, officials said.

“I always just wanted to bring dignity to the victim in this case,” said Captain Bob Green. “All of these years she has been gone without a trace, with none of her family or acquaintances knowing what happened to her. I just couldn’t give up, and now we know who she is due to the hard work of the DNA Doe Project with assistance from the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s Office, and I am so thankful for their efforts in helping us in this case.”

Authorities said the DNA Doe Project uses sophisticated DNA techniques and was able to create a candidate profile that took nearly 9 months of processing to complete.

“DDP wishes to acknowledge in addition to OCSO the contributions of those groups and individuals who helped solve this case: the University of North Texas for providing DNA samples; Hudson Alpha Discovery for processing the DNA; Dr. Greg Magoon, Research Engineer, Aerodyne Research Corp., contracting through Full Genomes Corp., for his work in bioinformatics; and GEDmatch for providing their database.” – The DNA Doe Project

The the DNA Doe Project, it was discovered that Tigard had also lived in Nevada, and served in the U.S. Army.

The Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office secured military medical records of Tigard's which helped to positively identify her, sheriff's said.

“Now she can be properly recognized,” said Captain Green, “her life has meaning and we can respectfully honor her.”

The only reason to take someone several states away and cover them with lime , is because you are tied to that person, so a random kidnapping seems to be unlikely , wonder who the person is who said she went for a walk and just disappeared that's who I would look at first

A photo of murder victim Tamara Lee Tigard, left, with an artist's sketch of the murder victim before she was identified. (Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office)

Detectives previously determined that Tigard had been shot at another location before her body was abandoned along the North Canadian River.

Armed with this new information, the search for Tigard's killer continues.
Four decades later, Oklahoma's 'lime lady' is identified

But rather than decompose her body, the moisture of the river caused the lime to preserve the girl's body. That gave investigators a clear view of a heart tattoo on the young woman's chest, who they believe had been murdered 10 days earlier.

They also found three bullet holes, as well as a dime in the woman's body. Investigators believe it was in the woman's pocket when a bullet lodged it into her chest.

Her face was nearly perfectly preserved as well, leading to a series of sketches over the years, but her identity remained a mystery - until a phone call in December of 2019.

Tamara had gone for a walk in March of 1980 near her home in Las Vegas and simply vanished.

Four weeks later, she was found in Oklahoma, on what would've been her 21st birthday, with her arms placed above her head, as if she'd been dragged.

If you have any information that can help this case, please call the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office at 405-713-1017.

I am so happy Tamara has her name back. I did read she was reported missing. Was she listed in NAMUS?

She was not. A woman claimed her identity in Ohio and the investigation was closed in Las Vegas.
