Circumstances of Disappearance:
Perry was seen by neighbors leaving his residence in Direct, Texas on February 23, 1995. He was going fishing at the Red River and was to stay at his friend's house located between Telephone and Monkstown in rural Fannin County, Texas.

On February 25, Perry complained of chest pains and asked his friend to drive him to the Veterans Administration (V.A.) hospital in nearby Bonham, Texas. His friend was unable to drive after dark, however, and asked Perry to wait until the next day. Perry stated he had to go right away and left alone to drive himself to the hospital. He has never been heard from again.

Perry's 1979 Ford Ranchero was later located on March 7, approximately 40 miles from Bonham. It was abandoned on the shoulder of Highway 70, seven miles south of Bennington, Oklahoma. It was reported that the vehicle had been sitting there for several days. Perry's personal belongings were discovered inside, including the black cowboy hat he usually wore.

The investigation conducted by Bryan County Sheriff's Office determined that the evening Perry left his friend's home, he spent the night at a motel in Durant, Oklahoma, and checked out the next morning on February 26. He may have hitched a ride to a café, 22 miles away in Bennington, Oklahoma, either that same day or the following day.

The sergeant investigating the case stated that Perry disappeared ten years prior while being treated for a heart condition and mild depression. He had stopped taking his medication, became disoriented, and was later found in the woods.

The circumstances of Perry's disappearance are unclear and his whereabouts remain unknown. Lamar County Sheriff's Office are investigating.

A few things to consider...

Charley Project stated he never made it to the hospital. So does that mean there was no record of him ever going there?

Did he have his medication with him or was it left behind in his vehicle?

Did he leave his fishing gear at his friend's house, intending to return?

Why was he in Oklahoma? Was he disoriented again?

Was his vehicle in working order when it was found?

I have the impression that this man became completely disoriented and got lost in some forest or body of water... he succumbed to the elements... without medication and no one to help him, he is an easy prey to fate...
whatever the case
may he rest in peace
