Woman found dead at Jenks home; authorities believe suspect left scene in victim's vehicle (kjrh.com)

JENKS, Okla. - Tulsa County sheriff's deputies are searching for a vehicle in connection to a homicide investigation in Jenks.

Authorities say the body of a 47-year-old woman was found in a home near 111th and Peoria (Elm) around 11:45 p.m. They said the woman was visiting her parents and they found her dead in a bedroom late Monday night.

"We don't really have the obvious signs, it doesn't look like a drug deal gone bad, it doesn't look like a typical MO," said Major Shannon Clark, with the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office. "Most home invasions, typically there's an MO behind it -- robbery, burglary, something for it, or that nature. It doesn't appear (anything) was disturbed in the residence. Other than the car was missing."

Investigators say the crime doesn't fit the area, which they describe as an affluent neighborhood.

The woman was a wife and mother who was in town from out of state visiting her parents, he said. The woman’s mother and father told deputies they left the home earlier in the evening and returned to find her dead.

About 3 p.m. Tuesday, investigators were called to a location in Sapulpa where items belonging to the victim that were believed to have been stolen by the killer or killers were discovered, Sheriff’s Maj. Shannon Clark said.

A 2009 Chevrolet Malibu that was reported missing from the homicide scene was also found in the same area, Clark said.

Teen confesses to shooting woman during burglary, report says (Tulsa World)

The 14-year-old accused of killing a woman late Monday in Jenks told authorities that he broke into the house to steal money and shot the victim when she came home, jail records state.

Joshua Scott Mooney was arrested and booked into the Tulsa Jail late Tuesday on one complaint each of first-degree murder, second-degree burglary and auto theft, according to jail records.

Joshua Scott Mooney, 16, pleaded guilty to first degree murder, robbery with firearms and second-degree burglary in a hearing Friday morning.

Mooney was sentenced to life in prison for the murder and robbery counts, and seven years on the burglary count in the home invasion and death of 47-year-old Mary Escue, in December 2012...

He will be eligible for parole in 38 years.
