Nixon was found dead at the Tower Estates, east of Sallisaw on Oct. 9, 1997. He was 28 at the time. His truck found abandoned at the Sallisaw Walmart later that day...

According to the affidavit filed by Investigator George Bormann, sheriff officials interviewed Robbins on March 6, 2013, regarding Nixon's murder. Robbins reportedly stated that in October 1997 he was walking in Gans when he was picked up by Dority and the two drove to Tower Estates and did some methamphetamine.

While they were at Tower Estates, Robbins said Bobby Scott arrived with Nixon, and when the two got out of the truck Scott allegedly hit Nixon with a rock. Scott then tossed the rock to Robbins, who allegedly hit Nixon four to five times until he was dead. In the midst of this assault, Dority was allegedly punching Nixon.

Arrest reports indicate Dority and two other people were high on meth when they attacked Nixon. Reports indicate their motive was to steal Nixon's truck.

Rick Dority, 56, originally of Sallisaw is now facing charges of first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Rex Richard Robbins, 39, of Sallisaw, was arrested in 2012 and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree robbery. His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 4 with Judge Jeff Payton for a status hearing.

The third suspect believed to be involved, Bobby Scott, is deceased.
