Jason Hebert interviewed Nathan's mom & sister.
  • Nathan had been struggling w/drugs. He had graduated drug court a few yrs prior.
  • He & a gf broke up which led to a downhill spiral. He eventually started dating a new gf from NV. He was doing good but mom doesn't know if maybe he relapsed again.
  • Mom last saw Nathan on 22 Jan 2020. She knows he was in her house on 26 Jan b/c he showered & ate. She called him & told him he couldn't go around her home if he was doing drugs or she'd call the cops.
  • Nathan last spoke to gf on 24 Jan 2020. GF came down from Nevada on 13 Feb. They had plans to go to OK City for V-day dinner w/motel room, etc. Nathan did not show up.
  • 15 Feb 2020 they reported him missing.
  • LE told her they might know why he hadn't contacted her. Apparently on 27 Jan 2020 there was a high speed chase involving a stolen truck. The truck hit a light pole, rolled, went over an embankment then landed in a creek (see article below for video). The driver ran from the vehicle and has never been located.

  • Nathan does have a history of auto theft and has done time in prison.
  • 2 week gap b/w last contact w/Nathan, high speed chase & when mom went to report Nathan missing. Potentially lots of evidence could have been lost during this time.
  • Nathan's phone records pinged in Shawnee area 27 Jan 2020. Last phone call was at around 6:02AM. Pursuit was at 6:48AM. All communication has stopped. No one has heard from him again.
  • Mom questioned how LE knew Nathan was the person involved in high speed chase. LE said because they had been told it was Nathan. The people who told LE it was Nathan driving were ppl who were in jail.
  • LE handed mom a phone they found in the truck. LE said it was Nathan's phone. Mom looked at phone but it wasn't Nathan's. She had purchased him a new phone 5 days before the accident.
  • Tecumseh Chief of Police told mom that they had received tips from ppl after Nathan's MP report was released. Supposedly a guy admitted to stealing the truck w/Nathan.
  • It's alleged that the guy named J.W. was last w/Nathan. Nathan had been living w/J.W. and his children for about 2 weeks. He has been questioned several times. His home and property have also been searched. No evidence has been found.
  • Mom questioned why the guy would admit to the truck theft (it's a felony). He's a known drug addict. According to mom & sis, the only "evidence" LE has that Nathan was involved in the chase is from word of mouth.
  • Witnesses have stated that J.W. killed Nathan. It's also possible J.W. may have had someone else kill Nathan. Multiple possible reasons he would have harmed Nathan (accord to folks who've texted Nathan's mom and some who have spoken w/ Tecumseh PD):
1) J.W. made sexual advances toward Nathan
2) Nathan stole drugs from him or a drug deal gone bad
3) Nathan walked in on J.W. raping a 12-year-old boy
  • Chief of Police asked whether Nathan is bisexual b/c guy who said he was w/Nathan is bi. COP wondered whether the guy may have made a pass at Nathan. Seems to believe this may have led to a confrontation resulting in Nathan's death.
  • OSBI has picked up Nathan's case b/c the same ppl who said they were w/Nathan in stolen truck said they heard or seen a text that Nathan had been killed. However, OSBI can't confirm b/c stories have changed & phone has been factory reset.
  • OSBI says Chief never should have brought mom in to ask that specific question or to tell her they think he's dead b/c there was no physical evidence to back up any of the statements made by the questionable witnesses (tweakers). Also b/c the supposed text message can't be confirmed b/c it was deleted. They don't even know if it was Nathan's name in the text or exactly what happened.
  • OSBI continues to follow up but there are no answers.
  • Twice LE divers searched the waters the truck wrecked in after the high speed chase. But no search of the wooded area around the accident scene. Family is still trying to get a search together but it's on tribal land. Lots of red tape involved w/trying to get the search done.
3 Possibilities:
1) Nathan was injured in the crash. Ran into wooded area and/or creek then died.
  • Family believes his remains could still be out in the wooded area or floated away in creek. If Nathan was in the truck then ran away after the accident maybe he didn't survive the aftermath. Also, mid Jan temps could have led to his death due to hypothermia, especially if he was wet.
2) Nathan was murdered.
3) Nathan moved to California.
  • There had been rumors that Nathan was moving to Cali. This is a possibility but family wonders how feasible it would have been given that he had no money or resources when he left.
Family hopes info will come in to help find Nathan.
