It is crazy the scant coverage her case received both when she went missing and subsequently after her body was tragically found in a pond weeks later. I can google no more than three or four news articles. Its such an awful murder especially since she was a mom going on a pizza run, picked up the pizza, and never came home.
There was a suspect/POI early on based on a Tulsa World article from Apr 15, 1994 but obviously was cleared or not charged.
Louisiana officials were preparing Thursday to extradite a man to Oklahoma who is a suspect in the April 1 disappearance of a Collinsville woman, a New Orleans FBI agent said. Gerald Floyd Burns, 36, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Louis Moore Jr. on Thursday in Louisiana Eastern District Court, said FBI Special Agent John Rook. Burns waived detention and extradition hearings, Rook said. "He should be on his way back to Oklahoma soon," Rook said. Burns, whom Rook described as a transient from Louisiana and southern Mississippi, was arrested Wednesday at a Louisiana state park on a complaint of interstate transportation of a stolen motor vehicle. He had been hitchhiking, Rook said.
Burns has a "lengthy criminal record," Rook said. His
record could not be obtained Thursday. Authorities linked Burns to a stolen car found in a parking lot near where Nola Jean Baldwin, 32, was last reported
seen alive, said Tulsa County Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Bass.
He would not say what the connection was. Bass said investigators recovered "all kinds of things" from the car, but they have not tied them to Baldwin's disappearance. Investigators think that Baldwin and Burns did not know each other, Bass said. Baldwin picked up a pizza at a Collinsville restaurant between
6 and 7 p.m. and did not return home. FBI agents and deputies have not located Baldwin's car, a 1992 red Dodge Spirit. The car, a four-door, sports
Oklahoma license tag INV-966.
