I don't think it's right to seek out and prosecute the mother of what was effectively a miscarriage. I know opinions will vary on this, but a 2lb fetus was questionably viable and may have been stillborn. I think there are far more important cases to prosecute. Mom may have been a juvenile, terrified, abused. Her not having a very early (likely) stillbirth at a hospital is not illegal imo.

Did this mother receive adequate -- or any -- medical care for this pregnancy?

Is this mother a victim of rape? Did she receive care & support after that trauma? Seems to be NO if she conceived this baby.

Was the pregnant shameful, miscarriage 'provided' by someone to avoid the 'shame?'

Is she disabled or delayed, and this pregnancy hidden by the rapist 'sperm donor?'

Is she herself a captive?

No one knows.

If she can be identified, she can be supported.

I wish the system worked that way, but I don't think it does.

At 2lbs, this baby was somewhere between 25 and 28 weeks gestation at birth. This would be a viable baby, I've cared for babies weight as little as 1.1lbs who have done well. The poor mother must have been petrified and in need of medical assistance. This will have been incredibly traumatising for her.

True (i was a 2 lbs baby once) but only viable if the mom was under constant medical supervision and in a hospital with an NICU.
If it was born alive, which we dont know.
Could have been a late term loss which may have happened at home. That poor mother.
