The Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office is investigating a local family whose home deputies say had fallen into unsanitary living conditions.
Sheriff's deputies visited a home near SW 51 and S Youngs Boulevard on Wednesday morning to serve a court-ordered eviction notice to the residents for not paying rent. After a parent answered the door, deputies were "struck by an overwhelming smell of feces and urine and filth," according to Aaron Brilbeck, Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
"When you're walking on the floor, it's like walking on a sponge," said Brilbeck, who was also at the scene. "It's filled with urine. It's covered in dog poop. It's just really, really bad conditions."
Investigators also said they discovered two girls, who Brilbeck said were 6 and 7 years old, sleeping on a filthy couch. The parents told deputies their two daughters were not enrolled in school.
