I am not wanting to defend the boyfriend in any way, especially if he is the guilty one; But I really hope they have more than just the child's testimony. I know how hard it is for a young child to have clear recollections of what is actually going on. Been there and done that.

I feel certain they have evidence. They know that the 4 year old won't be able to testify against him in court. The lie detector test can't be discussed in court. They had no basis to arrest unless they had something else, probably something circumstantial. Examples....Could have been blood in the drains, someone who heard the screams, a witness who saw lights go on after the mother left, blood in the man's bedroom, blood under his nails or something that substaniates what the inadmissible evidence says.

Maybe someone came forward and told LE about any strange behavior they noticed, or, maybe he was suspected of doing this in the past but charges were never brought? My daughter reported her rape to the police, but the DA did not think there was enough evidence to press charges.

From this link, it appears LE has made the arrest based on their initial questions with his story and the girl's statements after surgery.

If that's all they got it's unlikely to be convincing enough at trial. A child that young and traumatized isn't going to make a convincing witness, IMO.

I understand how awful you feel. this is a horrible crime. But in defense of my husband and father and son, WOMEN can be just as evil. There are many mothers who kill their children, many women who torture and rape. HUMANS are often evil, and not just men.

Yup. Sandra Cantu wasn't victimized by a man. It's not men - any human can be evil. And yet, I truly believe that the vast majority of people are good. Hearing about things does not make them more prevalent. I understand needing a break. I have to take one from here from time to time. But I don't think that the people I encounter each day are predators lurking. I couldn't exist like that.

I really think this is an unfair statement. We have no idea how this man presented himself to this woman. We have no idea what went on in their relationship. We have no idea if she was desperate for a man or why she chose to become involved with him. This smacks of blaming her when all the blame should be placed on the actual perpetrator of the crime.

I DO blame him!!! I just wish women would put their childrens safety above their own wants and needs.

There are also children who have married parents and end up being sexually abused by their own father. And sometimes their mother knows ans stays silent. Many of these cases, nobody ever hears about. I think it's wrong for a mom to have a different boyfriend sleeping over every night, but there is nothing wrong with having a loving relationship with a man while you have children. It isn't just about sex.
Think about how many trusted Doctors, Priests, Teachers, etc., are found to be child molesters. Or Uncles. Or Grandfathers. These guys are master manipulators. Sometimes if you're lucky you get a weird vibe from them-but not most of the time.

Our major concern is for the two children. Most of us are here for the children and to hope and pray they have healing and find Peace and Justice. We know it may take awhile.

Okay... MsF, outside the box, as usual. I have had family members accused of some pretty horrific crimes.

Everyone is able to feel horrible for this little girl, imagine her pain and her terror. Most are able to empathize with her mother.

Now imagine: If you got a phone call that a guy YOU love and trust was accused of raping a 4 year old girl...

How would YOU react? What would you do? Would you just say... "He's guilty! Hang him now!"
Or would you say "Wait... what? He couldn't have. I know him. I trust him. I love him. My kids love him. There's no way..."

IF this guy is guilty, or if anyone the family knows committed this crime... that adds a whole other layer to the situation.
Trying to accept that this person you trusted was really capable of THAT... is unbelievably hard.

I have family members who still can't do it 15 years later. Despite pictures, a confession and a suicide to prove it.
They can't take the loving, father, uncle... that they knew... and the child rapist... and comprehend they are one person.

They have to be two different people. Otherwise... how can your judgement EVER be trusted again?
If you were not able to see THAT, how can you ever be trusted to make any decision about a person in your life again?

I absolutely cannot judge a family for defending their loved one. My family never did just because of the backlash.
But privately? We said all the same things. I still can't think about my Uncle and truly comprehend the horrific things he did.

It is only harder to help this child... when you have to cope with knowing, loving and trusting the person that hurt her.
As long as this little girl is loved and protected... I can't judge anyone for struggling to believe this is true. :twocents:

MrsF I totally agree with you. The hardest thing to accept is that you know people. Really know them and love them. Then things happen that make you question. It is a shock and seems unbelievable. The hardest thing to accept is that while you know someone well, you don't know what is inside them. And you don't know them in all situations.

While I can pretty much accept that LE has evidence for the arrest, we still don't know what happened or what led up to it. And I have a feeling that will be come into play in this one. But we are just going to have to let this play out. Wait till the evidence comes out.

And if he did it, he himself may not know why he did it. I think we have all had situations where we have taken some action (maybe a small one) and later looked back and said why did I do that? (turned in front of a car, had a temper snap etc) This is more extreme. But I would have to give him one thing. He called for an ambulance. Too many we have seen in this situation wouldn't have. They would have allowed her to bleed to death or they would have just gotten rid of her. He called. For that I am grateful. She is alive.

On Thursday, court clerks told KTUL.com a $350,000 bond was set for Braden. Court records show Braden has not yet been officially charged.

No criminal charges have been filed but a Creek County judge has issued a protective order against Braden.

Authorities say he will likely be charged with one count of child sexual abuse, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
