I am not wanting to defend the boyfriend in any way, especially if he is the guilty one; But I really hope they have more than just the child's testimony. I know how hard it is for a young child to have clear recollections of what is actually going on. Been there and done that.
I feel certain they have evidence. They know that the 4 year old won't be able to testify against him in court. The lie detector test can't be discussed in court. They had no basis to arrest unless they had something else, probably something circumstantial. Examples....Could have been blood in the drains, someone who heard the screams, a witness who saw lights go on after the mother left, blood in the man's bedroom, blood under his nails or something that substaniates what the inadmissible evidence says.
