This was not an easy thing for me to post here. I think this is a case of someone experiencing a miscarriage. I am not a pregnancy expert (am a male) but I think this is a 16-20 week fetus maybe a little more or less. I wonder if it was a teen mom or maybe someone who worked at the plant. Could have also been an undocumented individual but who knows for sure. I guess a funeral was too expensive but I would think there would be better more peaceful places to bury a fetus.

Apparently gender can be determined in as early as 10 weeks but most wait until 18-22 weeks.

Would be interested to know if the trash can was inside the sewer plant - as in somebody had access to the building, or if it was a publicly-accessible (legally or otherwise) trash can.

I suppose any employees with access would have been the first step for LE, hard to know if someone would even be ‘showing’ at that point as it all depends on the individual person.

I also notice the race is listed as ‘uncertain’, would this be because of the decomposed state of the remains, or is that the case during most early-mid pregnancies?

If you mean through skin colour, that starts to develop in the third trimester, although not fully realised until after birth, so all babies are born paler than they eventually become. So, decomposition might play a role, but in any case I think it would be too early to see; DNA should offer some clues though.

Thanks for that info. The area is listed as tribal land - assuming there are employees of the sewerage company who aren’t belonging to the land DNA profiling might be a way to either rule them in or out, same for any locals. That’s if there’s no direct/family match. Although I’m sure LE is a few steps ahead of just thinking aloud like I am already.
