The Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office was called to S. Rock Creek Road, three miles east of Tecumseh and about a half a mile south of State Highway 9, just after 9 a.m. for a report of a female body being found in a ditch.

Update: Autopsy results released for woman found dead in Earlsboro-area creek in October

According to the final autopsy report, Smith's cause of death is listed as “probable acute opiate toxicity,” while the manner of death was ruled as unknown. The autopsy report shows no fatal trauma was identified.
