This is such a shame.

I'm curious as to why he wanted to be dropped off at the cotton field. How close was that to his car? I'm confused about that part.
It was reported that his car was found southwest of Tipton. He was dropped off halfway between Davidson and Grandfield, meaning that he was at least 20 miles away from his car, but probably more. It makes no sense for him to exit the car where he did. Did he have a nervous breakdown? An argument with the people who gave him the lift? Are the police sure it was his footsteps that they found? What about his phone pinging across the border?

The area of Hwy 70 and 54 is just farm land. There isn't even much water in the area. The land is just flat farm land. I see a couple of small stock ponds, but those aren't going to be very deep and should be relatively easy to search. He is not far from Wichita Falls or Vernon, but both are relatively small communities where it would be difficult for someone to just blend in and not be found.
