GUILTY OK - Samantha Weaver, 27, Shawnee, 15 June 2012

  • #21
I'm pretty sure they have had their eye on this guy for some time now. I remember earlier articles referencing a person of interest, but I guess they just didn't have enough info to name him a suspect until now. Either that or this process is just plain slow.

Why would anyone date him?! He looks like he is pure evil with a side of crazy, imo.

Yeah, he looks hella creepy in that mugshot. Who knows what their relationship may had been. The photo in the video looks a little bit better. Since he is about 11 years older than Samantha, its not implausible that they were dating. I wonder if he accompanied her to Riverwind casino that night. Maybe he was within their circle of friends.

Regardless, I initially thought this could have been a custody battle case, but this latest suspect debunks that theory.

Authorities: Human Remains Found In Backyard Near Shawnee

...the Medical Examiner's office sent both a forensic anthropologist and forensic archeologist to assist in the dig. And they are going layer by layer, collecting crucial clues that will help determine if the body found in the shallow grave is indeed that of Samantha Weaver, a young mother of two young girls, who vanished without a trace in June of 2012.

Busch, who said she is familiar with the property where the events were unfolding, confirmed Weaver’s friend, Troy Don Loveland, previously resided there.

In early 2014, Loveland, 41, who does have a listed address on district court records at 4 Rustic Oaks, began serving a 23-year prison term for crimes that reportedly occurred in 2013 involving another woman. Pottawatomie County Court records show that case involved charges that included kidnapping, assault and battery and domestic assault by strangulation.

According to investigators, those incidents occurred at the same location where the remains were found.

I wish they would describe in more detail about Loveland being her "friend" and how she ended up at this location. Is he also her ex and the father of her children? I am a bit confused on the facts of this case.

Although an official ID has not come through, all evidence points to this being Samantha. RIP.

I wonder what her relationship with TL is. Apparently, they were not dating[1] so my guess is that they were either friends or they had some sort of 'business' relationship. Regardless, as of right now, he looks like the primary suspect.

From that article:
Samantha's sister Cristy Busch confirms Weaver was only friends with Troy D. Loveland, who lived in one of the buildings on this property, and who is currently in prison for assaulting another woman there.

She says he was the last person to see her alive.

It seems he is currently serving a 23 year sentence in prison for matters relating to a woman in 2013.

Okay, I remember this case now. Someone definitely needs to merge the threads.

I wonder if they can tie him to other similar crimes since they have him on two now?

O/T but related.

OSBI buys radar to find human remains, quickly makes discovery

The ground-penetrating radar that the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation recently purchased looks almost like a lawnmower at first glance. It signals through the earth to transmit an image of what is beneath the top soil and show any abnormalities.
Despite its near $20,000 price tag, the radar’s true value in helping solve cold cases is priceless.

Video of the new machine in action at link.

From June:

http://newsok.com/article/5426976

An admitted murderer who hid his victim's strangled body in a grave only 51 feet from his front door was sentenced Thursday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Troy Don Loveland, 42, was sentenced in Pottawatomie County District Court after he pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Loveland had been questioned about her disappearance in 2012 because she had been staying with him after breaking up with a boyfriend.

The only thing I can see is "well.... duh!" It is pretty easy to draw a conclusion here. It is, however, disappointing that it took 3 years for a murder charge and conviction despite the case being so obvious. This case reminds me of Peggy McGuire and I think a similar situation will play out with her.
