OK - Son warns of hydrocodone dangers after Sand Springs man kills wife, pets, & himself

Anyone addicted to Hydrocodone could very well murder someone if they’re in withdrawal imo
They'd be too sick to actually do it.

I think it was an excuse, unless it turns out he had a stroke or a brain tumor, which might indeed be the case at his age.

As the family begins to grieve, Toliver wants his family's tragedy to serve as a warning to others about the dangers of addiction.

"If this story can get one person off the hydrocodone, then the uncomfortableness that I feel here doing this interview will be well worth it," Toliver said.

The family, along with police, urges anyone struggling with addiction or mental health issues to reach out for help. SAMHSA offers a variety of resources: CLICK HERE

For me, hydrocodone not only kills or takes the edge off my pain, it gives me an energy boost. But I thought the same thing as you, it may be

an excuse to plead insanity.

You don’t need to be weaned off. Doctors can prescribe Subutex or Suboxone 12 hrs after last dose of Hydrocodone with NO withdrawals. Fact
I did not know this. It should be public knowledge so the people who want to do away with painkillers will have way less ammunition to go after those who truly need it.

Opioid withdrawals will not kill you, they will just make you feel like you wanna die. I feel horribly for the whole family. I wish he did not try to blame his addiction on a medication that has not shown to make people homicidal. Just another way to make people think addicts are bad people, which deep down they are not.
Sorry, I was speaking in terms of older people who have heart conditions or low potassium levels. A nurse in the ER told me years ago. Whenever I don't need the hydro and stop, about 3 weeks go by and the worst I get is horrible stomach cramping, an hour sitting on the toilet, immense sweating and thirst. Then it's over. My doctor says I don't have an "addictive personality"; weird considering my other family members history with substance abuses.

Treatment centers provide it so people are aware

I meant that if he was in withdrawal, he would be too sick to do something like that - a murder/suicide.

If your pain is relieved, of course you're going to have an energy boost. The simplified version of the difference between dependence and addiction: If you are dependent on a drug, your quality of life goes up; if you are addicted, it goes down.
