I've searched, but couldn't find Terri listed anywhere. There is a separate thread for her missing son Nathan.

Terri Lea Schlatter was twenty-one years old when she went missing, along with her one year old son Nathan, from Tulsa in February 1985.

The tale of Terri and Nathan’s disappearance is a sordid one, full of twists and turns. Both her and her husband Darrell Schlatter had been charged with federal bank fraud after they signed for a boat loan under false pretenses. Terri fled after she was indicted for the fraud, eventually being located in Colorado. Eventually, Terri agreed to assist investigators with their case against Darrell.

Given the charges that were pending against her, Terri sent Nathan back to Indiana (where she was from) to stay with her mother, however, within a month she went to Indiana to retrieve her son and returned to Tulsa with him- against her mother’s wishes. The last time Terri was known to have been seen was when she dropped Nathan off at a babysitters. Darrell picked Nathan up from this babysitter later, and told the sitter that her services were no longer needed. This was the last time Nathan was seen alive.

Darrell remains the only person of interest in Terri and Nathan’s disappearance. It’s worth mentioning that when Terri met Darrell he was living under an assumed name that belonged to a deceased man. In 1993, Darrell was charged with murdering his girlfriend. During the course of that investigation, the investigation into Terri and Nathan’s disappearance was once again looked into. During this investigation, law enforcement drained a pond to look for Terri and Nathan’s bodies. Shortly after this occured- Darrell Schlatter hung himself in his jail cell.

Terri and Nathan remain missing. At this point it is presumed that Darrell killed Terri to keep her from testifying against him, and then murdered Nathan to make it appear that Terri once again fled charges against her.

In spite of law enforcement’s belief that Terri and Nathan are dead, Terri’s family believes she still might be out there. Believes it so firmly that they have vowed to keep the same landline phone number as long as they’re living, just in case Terri should ever reach out.

Details of Disappearance

Terri was last seen in Tulsa, Oklahoma sometime in February 1985. She and her husband, Darrell Schlatter, lived there. Darrell was also from Indiana and at the time Terri met him, he was using a dead man's name and Social Security number.

Their marriage was troubled and they had both been charged with federal bank fraud. Terri came to the attention of the authorities after she fell behind in payments she was making on a boat. She told investigators her husband had dyed his hair gray and posed as her father to co-sign for the loan.

Terri fled after the indictment and was located in Colorado, where she had been working as an exotic dancer. She was arrested for prostitution and extradited to Oklahoma when Colorado police found out about the outstanding warrant. Terri agreed to cooperate with the authorities and testify against Darrell.

In January 1985, Terri sent her son, Nathan, to stay with her mother and stepfather in Springville, Indiana while she got her life together. The following month she came to get Nathan, against his grandparents' wishes, and took him back to Tulsa.

The day after she picked up Nathan, Terri called her mother to ask about some medication the child was taking. This was the last time Terri's family had contact with her.

That same month, Terri dropped Nathan off at a babysitter's for the day. Darrell came to pick him up and told the babysitter her services weren't needed anymore. This is the last time anyone saw either Nathan or his mother; neither of them were ever heard from again.

She had left Darrell before and he always tried to find her, but after her February 1985 disappearance, he seemed uninterested in locating her. Because of the outstanding fraud charges against her, for years after their disappearances, authorities considered Terri to be a fugitive from the law rather than a missing person.

In April 1993, Darrell was charged with killing a girlfriend, Erica Hartwick, who died in September 1992. Darrell claimed Hartwick had snagged her heel in a horse's stirrup and been dragged to death, but investigation showed she'd been murdered.

Investigators re-opened the investigation into Darrell's wife and son's disappearances after his arrest, and drained a local pond. The search turned up nothing, however. Darrell committed suicide by hanging himself in jail in June 1993.

Terri and Nathan's Social Security numbers haven't been used since they vanished in 1985. Foul play is suspected in their cases, which remain unsolved.

She used to be listed on NamUs ( MP38967 ) but her profile was taken down on February 24, 2023. The Resolved cases for OK didn't go up when her profile was removed, so it's probably just hidden from public view.

Hello. I’m Terri’s sister. I’ve got other info on the case. I’ve attached an age progression photo for her done about 10 years ago. There’s others that may know what happened. The man that took her to Moms to pick up Nathan was named Colin Page from England.
