The Washington County Sheriff's Office says bones found along a county road south and east of Ramona Wednesday afternoon are human.

Deputies said at about 2:20 p.m., they got a call from a surveyor about remains found near the intersection of County Roads North 4000 and West 3700.

Investigators said they did not know yet if the remains were male or female, but the investigation was handled as a homicide.

The county is not currently investigating any missing persons reports.

Man charged with murder; Body found in Washington County in May

“Tulsa Police have arrested Robert Tyson in the first-degree murder of Verlin Ray Howard,” County Undersheriff Steve Johnson told the Examiner-Enterprise Friday.

The remains were discovered May 11 in southern Washington County. Shortly after that, it was announced that they were “likely human” spurring speculation as to the details surrounding the discovery.
