Authorities stated Ervin Lee McCoy Jr. was the prime suspect in Crandall's case. A photo of McCoy is posted with this case summary. A convicted bank robber, he is believed to be responsible for six murders dating between 1998 and 2006, but he has only faced charges in one.

In September 2010, McCoy pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the 2004 shooting death of his coworker, Alex Tom Record. He led authorities to Record's body in 2007. As part of his 2010 plea agreement, he agreed to led police to Crandell's body and also the body of his missing wife, Vickie L. Peters, who vanished in 2004. Authorities searched the area McCoy indicated and found Peters's remains.

Crandell's body has not been found and it's unclear whether charges will be brought in his presumed homicide. His case remains unsolved.

<<McCoy agreed Thursday to disclose where he buried his wife, Vickie Peters, in 2004 and another victim, William Crandell, in 2006. In exchange, prosecutors agreed he could serve a 30-year sentence for Record's death.>>

I am confused to why LE hasn't found Crandell's remains, at least it hasn't been reported that I could find. If this article is from 2011 and they made a deal or something with McCoy, I don't see any followup

In the first article it said they found his wife’s body (Peters) but were unable to locate Crandell’s remains. MOO
