I agree. I also posted in the other threads as well. There is a true diagnosis and there are narcissistic traits that get thrown around very loosely these days. We don't know if he had actual diagnoses of BPD or NPD. Those can take years to diagnose, many symptoms overlap with other disorders, and many other treatable mental health diagnoses can present similarly.
I believe I read TD was diagnosed with BPD in the court report. And, yes so many disorders could overlap ie PTSD, NPD, BPD and of course complex trauma.
IMO

Really appreciate insights like this. I know legal stuff, and hiking stuff, but not that type of information. It's extremely insightful and valuable.

I recently moved out of the PNW but still feel like this area is my "home," so I have a particularly keen interest in this guy being found, which this type of information can be so useful in doing. The circumstances of this case continue to make me literally physically ill.
I wanted to add to my post to you that I am getting educated on places in Washington State, awesome hiking trails and how to track airplanes and helicopters while I follow this case.

Yes, there's been so much great information in these threads on a variety of topics. Really speaks to the amazing breadth of knowledge on these forums. This case, horrible as it is, has expanded my knowledge enormously (though I'm still a definite newbie on many areas).

Here is a map, with Blewett Pass pinned.

JMVHO.
Thank you again for posting this. As I have said, I am not good with maps and was just about to try to get a new map related to the search.

Edited to add: Looking at the map you posted…this is the area, I saw a plane circling around for a couple hours this afternoon. Thanks again

IIRC, TD said on the night he picked them up, “the only thing I have left are you and the girls”…

It is very sad, and sounds like the brother is saying that the changes occurred in the last three years.
When did they start divorce proceedings?or when were they divorced.? house sold?
I think this was a very hard hit for him.

There are people here - myself included -who do not care what (mental health isuues) he suffered from.
We just want him caught! Yes, definitely for the sake of justice, but also for the safety of anyone around or anywhere near him. Especially any LE who might encounter him!
The rest can be "sorted out" later. (As our British friends love to say, which I think is very cute.)
Not to dismiss mental health issues as being valid. But this is a man on the run, with presumably little to lose (save his life).
An extremely dangerous situation, for the community and for LE.

I care about his mental health, so that problems might be identified and treated in the future. But the elephant in the room has nothing to do with just one man. VA cuts and now medicaid. Priorities.

Agreed, though it is not clear that he had availed himself of any treatments available.
My point was only that he needs to be stopped. Now. And "sort out" the rest later.
I take mental health issues very seriously.

Except for Andrea Yates, I don't recaĺl learning in depth the psychogical problems of one who killed their children. As a result I still feel deep sympathy for her.
I don't believe we will learn the same here, if he's caught alive. But I would like to see it published in the MSM, how he was treated by the VA if relevant. SImilar to the horrible way the family of Corey Micciolo was treated by social services. Imo

I hadn't seen this particular comment earlier.

We’ve found footprints and items of interest,” said Mike Morrison, Chelan County Sheriff. “We believe we’re closing in on his trail.”

Just a note to say the above article has since been corrected to read Ingalls Creek, not Eagle Creek

Another reason I'm in the "I think it was planned" camp.

[Travis] used Google search terms on May 26 related to moving from the U.S. to Canada.

"These Google searches included the following: 'how does a person move to canada', 'how to relocate to canada', 'jobs canada' and 'jobs canada'," U.S. Deputy Marshal Keegan Stanley wrote in the affidavit. "After the above-listed Google searches, he visited the site 'Find a job - Canada.ca'."

Hypothesizing here...have to wonder if he had this delusional idea that he could sneak himself and the girls into Canada without a fight from the girls.

Maybe he had this grandiose idea they could start a new life and that plan went sideways if the girls were crying or getting hysterical when he told them this (he seemed to say a lot of things to them that realistically weren't happening).

Perhaps his intent was to kidnap with the zip ties, force them to be with dad and drive close to the border and somehow get them across. If the girls panicked/started really screaming, things escalated and he in that point saw NO light at the end of his tunnel made a heinous decision.

I don't know why, but at my core I guess I'm hoping this wasn't premeditated for revenge and was a spontaneous snap/panicked choice. Either way, outcome is the same I guess.

I bet if we knew what those items of interest were that were found, we would find them to be very, make that extremely, interesting.

I think we need to recognize tand acknowledge the mental health aspect to find ways to prevent these things from happening again.

I understand what you're saying as well, but pretending mental isn't part of this equation is part of the problem in a way. We all want justice for those darling girls, of course. But we have to talk about how to make these crimes preventable to save lives. JMO MOO

Or actually be accountable and jump off a cliff.
Ya but too easy. And then no answers, not like he'd give answers - we don't know. He could lie about everything.

Him having to feel all the eyes and stares on him or to look people in the eye in a court of law would burn more I think. MOO

Oh, please see my later post! I care very much about mental health!
But what they call a clear and present danger in the community, to me, takes precedence right now.

Yes! 100% safety first! I feel for the searchers and communities right now, I would be so stressed if this was in my area!! I don't think I could sleep.

I did see your post after I posted my comment too and didn't your comment as not caring at all :) This whole story is sad and frustrating on so many levels... so many emotions being felt from all of us watching. I am hoping he surrenders but won't hold my breath either!
