Omaha double murder

This just might offend someone, it is not intended to but in a case like this we have to consider all possibilities.
Creighton is run by the Jesuits. My understanding is that they can be a pretty secretive bunch, especially where scandal affecting the church is involved. One idea I have had is that if there is any connection to Creighton, someone there may be operating under the philosophy that it is better to not cooperate with LE to avoid scandal. If that seems farfetched go back and reread some of the details of the sex scandals the church has been facing and how they reacted.
That sort of reasoning boggles my mind. But maybe not theirs. Just a thought.

It is mind boggling, Snick. Yet it happens alot in education.....even on the local level. I witnessed it time and again when I was teaching. If I were still teaching, I'd probably not even share this with you all for fear of termination because no one is allowed to talk about it. It seems the mindset is to avoid scandal at all costs. It certainly leaves one scratching their head doesn't it. However, it isn't all that far fetched IMO.

When you consider that it does not take a very long time for blood to begin congealing I am sure the doctor recognized that an attempt to revive would be a completely lost cause.

Very well put YellowDog, I agree it is unbelievable!! What also has me mystified is that the family's have not been more vocal about the lack of progress in this case. If it's because as some have said ... LE is requesting them to be silent to preserve the investigation. Sixteen months later I would be demanding a different stradegy, cause this one isn't producing.

Knox, I find this strange, too. I have read virtually nothing the mother has said. I have read a few generalized statements from the father. But then the media seems to be almost as silent. And LE is definitely "zippered".

The Omaha Police Department has put on hold plans to enlist a nationally syndicated crime show to help find the person who fatally stabbed an 11-year-old boy and his family's housecleaner almost one year ago.


Since last fall, Omaha police have been in talks with producers of "America's Most Wanted" about taping a segment on the March 13, 2008, daytime killings of Shirlee Sherman, 57, and Thomas Hunter, 11.

" 'America's Most Wanted' is a tool we can use . . . but not right now," said Lt. Kerry Neumann, head of the homicide unit. "We are just not ready to use them."

Neumann said he is concerned that releasing too much information about the crime scene could hinder the investigation.

For now, he said, detectives want to concentrate on existing leads as well as tips generated by recent local news coverage of the case.


I believe this article was in March. It's now months later and maybe they still don't think they can use this offered help!

Okay, so I have been thinking about your (SNick's) comments about the Jesuits and decided to do some research on their secrecy. I'm not a big conspiracy theorist, so I don't really know where I stand on the idea, but a few things jumped out at me as I was reading...Here are a few things I snipped from the webpage I was reading:

Hey. I have been a websleuth member for years, but have two small children and am working towards a degree and I work FT. (so I am not on much)I am a long time lurker, but I had to say keep up the good work on this case. I am from Omaha, and literally this case make my stomach hurt. I was disgusted in the Amber Harris case when LE dragged thier feet, and the lack of information on this case makes me just as upset.
Snick.. I would like to get my hands on the information you may have but cannot share here. Is that possible?
