Oprah Winfrey getting her own TV network

I think the only thing I dislike about Oprah is that book club of her. She gives a thumbs up on a book and all of her mindless drones just HAVE to HAVE it. At some point the club becomes so powerful that she can singlehandedly make or break a book, and in my opinion that becomes dangerous because she can have a grudge against a person who writes a wonderful book but can say that it sucks and kill the person's sales.

Started ignoring her book club after she had Jewel's poetry book on there. I thumbed through it was and it was complete carp.

I got a bit peeved at her after she foisted dr. phil on the world. Yuck. Otherswise, I don't have much of an opinion. She seems to do a lot of good, which is cool. I go back and forth on her.

I thought that he was great on her show. It seems that he gradually became more and more full of himself when he got his own show. He really seems like he would do just about anything to maintain his celebrity lifestyle and status now. And...I don't really like that it has become an entire family affair...Somehow, that really doesn't sit well with me...

I agree with your thoughts about Dr Phil, nanandjim.

I don't dislike her, but she doesn't rock my world. I do like Dr. Oz...forgot about him. She had that nasty plastic surgeon on though too, and he turned out not to be "all that" afterall. You know, the one that operated on Kanye West's mom.

I guess her owning her own network ("OWN" are the initials, btw) is better than Paris Hilton, Donald Trump or Rosie owning one! IMO

Since you've brought up her Book Club - it doesn't seem to matter what it is, if Oprah mentions it then people 'must have'. It's insane!
We have a local lingerie shop and somehow Oprah got a pair of their pyjamas. She's wearing them on the cover of her 2008 Magazine! This shop has been in business for 30 years and now that Oprah has advertised for them, sales are through the roof!!

I have lingerie from this place and now I'm just hoping the price doesn't go up!:crazy:
