Sheriff: 4 killed, including infant, in Clackamas County homicide; deputies shoot suspect

Deputies were called out late Saturday night on reports of a domestic violence incident near the intersection of Highway 211 and South Barlow Road. They arrived to find four people dead, including an infant.

“They were then able to locate the suspect,” Clackamas County Sgt. Brian Jensen said. “At which point they were presented with a deadly force situation. Our deputies fired their service weapons, killing the homicide suspect.”

The homicide victims included one male and three females. They ranged in age from an infant to retirement-age.

Deputies say the suspect, a man in his 40’s, was about to kill a little girl. Officials said that's when the deputies used deadly force.

The girl and another woman who ran from the property survived. It is not clear if they were hurt.

Mark Leo Gregory Gago, 42, killed his parents, his girlfriend and their nine-month-old daughter on Saturday night before deputies shot him.

Deputies arrived at the home in Woodburn, Oregon and found a 'horrific' scene, according to Clackamas County Sheriff's office.

Sheriff's Sergeant Brian Jensen said the victims were not shot dead and they are investigating what was used to kill them.

'We're not sure what was used at this time. I've been told that there were numerous weapons, swords, things of that nature in the residence,' he said.

'The investigators are trying to determine what exactly was used to kill each person.'

Neighbors said one of the weapons used was an axe but authorities have not confirmed that.

The sheriff's office identified the victims as nine-month-old Olivia Gago, his 31-year-old girlfriend Shaina Sweitzer and his parents Jerry Bremer, 66, and Pamela Bremer, 64.

Gago was attempting to kill his girlfriend's eight-year-old daughter when he was killed, according to the sheriff's office.

What a brave, strong little girl.

Talking in riddles sounds like mental health issues.

Or drugs. I wonder if there is a history with either one or both (self-medicating). Such a tragedy.
