Identified! OR - Agate Beach - White Male, 42-50, July 2007 - William Switzer, 33

Great work you guys! And forgive me but I have run into this same bullchit with LE...They already knew this and they already knew that...blah blah blah. I suspect it might have something to do with one of two things. Either they have the reward in mind or they simply are acting like know it all cops.

Ok, I'm done ranting...flame away! :D

I just read this thread this morning and when I saw the name of the tattoo I knew what is was because, well, I am intimately acquainted with that name!

I can't imagine anyone who did not have family with that name having the tattoo.

The spelling variations are right, except I've never met someone who spells it CavEnaugh.

Caomhanach (with the accent) is the spelling we always used for the Gaelic.

It might be his mother's name if he identified Irish from his mother's side.

Really, great job everyone! I am proud of you all. Now they (LE) know WS's know too!

Why would the lettering on the tattoo have all small letters except the A's.

Forgive me for being a stick in the mud...BUT
the Doe has shoulder length brown hair
Robert had a shaved head in march.
Could his hair grow that much in four months?

BethInAK- I think you got the dates mixed up. Robert was reported missing in December 2004. The press release update was sent out in March 2006.

Bumping...

Has anyone heard if they've identified this guy? I can't find anything.

They should pop that up on some tattoo websites and ask for a lead on the artist who produced it. Some artists will sneak in their "logo" or something to identify their work and it looks like a nicely done tat. Someone might recognize the work. Would be a good way to go about getting an ID, IMO.

I think about this in so many cases.

If there was just a database of tattoos on these UID's and artists were made aware of it.....

The guy in SC with his entire back tattooed is a perfect example. And, this one is purely original - someone has to remember doing it!!

At least some closure to this one...

"A man found dead at Agate Beach on July 18th has been positively identified as a Lake Oswego man.NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) - A man found dead on July 18th on the ocean shore of Agate Beach has been positively identified as a Lake Oswego man."... more at link

Strange...so his Tattoo had nothing to do with his name?! So was it suicide or was it foul play? They seem undecided.

I wondered if he had once been into some role playing game where he used the name as a sort of clan name rather than it being his real name. It would be nice to know where the tat came from, what caused him to get it.

I looked him up at People Finders. It indicates his mother is one Patricia Cavanaugh Guthrie, so I guess that's where the tattoo comes in...

Ahh so it was a name just buried deeper than one might expect. Thats good to know. Thank you.

I mentioned earlier that if it wasn't his name, he might have identified Irish through his mother. Looks like that was true. I am glad the family has closure and he can be laid to rest. This one really hit home for me because of the name.
