TIGARD, Ore. (TCD) -- A 67-year-old woman accused of chaining up a child for almost a year faces nine additional charges after investigators learned she allegedly abused two more children in her care.

TIGARD, Ore. (TCD) -- A 67-year-old woman accused of chaining up a child for almost a year faces nine additional charges after investigators learned she allegedly abused two more children in her care.

The Sheriff’s Office first received a tip on April 26, alleging a child was "chained up in a house, often for more than 12 hours daily." The child allegedly stole drinks and food from the kitchen and was "strangled, hit, kicked, and verbally abused" as punishment.

Although the Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the suspects’ relationship to the child, officials said the couple lived with nine children and two young adults.

Ana Miranda was arrested April 27 for allegedly chaining up a child as punishment for taking food and drinks from the kitchen. The abuse included being hit, kicked, strangled and called slurs and lasted for nearly a year, authorities alleged in a statement in May. Her husband, Charles “Randy” Ward, was also arrested.

Washington County sheriff’s Sgt. Danny DiPietro said at the time that the children in the home weren’t placed there by the foster care system but declined to release further details, citing privacy concerns.

The child would be chained to either the kitchen table or in the bathroom, which Miranda admitted to, according to the court documents, which added the child also had food withheld while all the other siblings were treated normally.
