A hunter spotted Barney and SAR caught him using a trap. He appears to be in good condition. If only Barney could talk.

UPDATE (
10/5/19 10:58 P.M.): Search and Rescue Team members from Harney, Union, Umatilla and Baker counties performed ground searches throughout the day. A helicopter from Baker Aircraft carried spotting crews. Teams focused on the area of East Eagle Creek, where Dennis’s dog, Barney, had been spotted by a hunter the day prior. At approximately 5:45 p.m. a live trap was set. Within 20 minutes, Barney was found in the trap unharmed. He appears to be in good condition. Terrain consisting of steep, brushy hillsides with numerous rock bluffs continues to create challenges for searchers.
UPDATE (
10/4/19 9:38 P.M.): Little Kettle Creek and Kettle Creek drainages were searched extensively today by ground crews and drone teams. At approximately 5:00 p.m., a hunter in the area reported seeing a small, white dog believed to be Barney. Search efforts, including a helicopter spotting team, will commence at daylight. Regional search and rescue teams are being assembled and preparing to deploy.

10/4/19 6:57 A.M.): Ground crews will be conducting an extensive search in the area of the Kettle Creek and Little Kettle Creek drainages. The Baker County Search and Rescue Team will be assisted by ground searchers from Union County Search and Rescue and Wallowa County Search and Rescue. If weather permits, a drone team will be operating.
UPDATE (
10/3/19 10:01 A.M.): Patrol will continue in the area today. Tomorrow, a team of searchers will convene and perform an extensive search of the Little Kettle Creek drainage area, which consists of steep terrain covered with dense underbrush.

10/2/19 11:38 P.M.): Baker County Search and Rescue members continue to search the area on foot. Helicopters are also aiding in the search.
