A search and rescue mission is currently underway in the East Eagle Creek area and Eagle Cap Wilderness near Crater Lake. Baker County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team members began searching for Andy Dennis in the afternoon hours of September 29th. Mr. Dennis failed to return from a hunting trip. He is an extremely experienced hunter and survivalist in the woods.

UPDATE (9/30/19 7:55 P.M.): Crews have ceased searching for the evening. The terrain, along with snowy conditions, significantly hampers search abilities. The search will commence at daylight. Helicopters will be utilized to aid in the search, weather permitting.

"Baker County Sheriff's Office

UPDATE (10/1/19 5:19 P.M.): Ground crews, along with a helicopter, continue to search the area. Tomorrow additional ground searchers will be deployed.

UPDATE (10/1/19 11:57 A.M.): Baker County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue members continue to search the area by foot and ATV. Union County Search and Rescue members and Oregon State Police personnel have joined the search. Helicopters from the National Guard and Baker Aircraft are assisting."

ETA: After reading the comments in the BCSO post, I was relieved to find that there is a 2nd Crater Lake in Oregon--which is nowhere near the more famous Crater Lake. Apparently there were others just as confused as I was!

A hunter spotted Barney and SAR caught him using a trap. He appears to be in good condition. If only Barney could talk.
