Charles Levin is best known as a Hollywood actor "with numerous film and TV credits."

Levin last had contact with friends or family on June 28. He had indicated that he was lost, driving in the Cave Junction area. He was in his 2012 Orange Fiat and accompanied by his "fawn colored" pug, Boo Boo Bear at the time of the call.

Charles Levin, 70, was moving to a home on Redwood Avenue from a residence near SW G Street. GPDPS Lt. Todd Moran says Levin was expected to be moved out of his old apartment by July 1st, but some of his possessions are still in the SW G Street home. People who know Levin tell police that he is a responsible person, so it is unusual for him to miss that moving deadline, according to Moran.

Levin is described by police as approximately 5'9" tall, 215 pounds, partially bald with gray hair and brown eyes. He drives an orange 2012 Fiat with the Oregon license plate "CU37112."

What is the area like here? Cliffs? Body's of water?

He apparently was moving out of an apartment into another home when he went missing. Some of his possession remained in the apartment.

It's straight interstate from Grant's Pass, where his apartment was at, to Cave Junction, where he was moving. Blowing up the google map I don't see any side roads going off into the more mountainous terrain. I don't know how he could have gotten "lost" in Cave Junction - it's a small town, numerous places to stop and ask for directions. I'm afraid he had a medical event or seizure.Google Maps

I believe he was moving within Grants Pass, not to Cave Junction. Redwood Avenue is in Grants Pass. So it seems he had gone to Cave Junction for some reason. The only thing I can think of that would get him lost in or around Cave Junction is if he was either delivering or picking up something bought or sold on Craigslist. We did a lot of craigslist furniture purchases in Medford and Jacksonville one time when we moved, so that came to mind.

Just to be accurate, although it is a straight shot to Cave Junction from Grants Pass, US 199 isn’t actually what we could call an “interstate” with at least 4 lanes like most of Interstate 5 which heads north at Grants Pass. US 199 runs about 80 miles west from Grants Pass and stops at 101 near Crescent City Calif. It’s mostly rural two lane and goes through small towns.

Quite honestly, if he was lost in the Cave Junction area, I’m more inclined to think foul play than medical event. :(Although the sheriff now has more staffing in Josephine County, the lack of law enforcement for years didn’t exactly attract fine, upstanding citizens. I would not want to get lost outside of town. Some folks living in the rurals in many parts of southern Oregon don’t take kindly to strangers mistakenly on their property. I hope he didn’t run into that kind of situation.

When I plug both streets in Google maps they both appear to be in Grants Pass, about 4 miles apart. And another 35 miles south to Cave Junction.

We have been looking to move to Grants Pass and were warned to stay the hell away from Cave Junction, mainly due to meth problems. The houses in Cave Junction are super cheap compared to surrounding areas.

Yup! It took over a year for the parents of friends to sell their property in Cave Junction so they can join family in Hawaii. The wildfire smoke last summer would have killed sales, in addition to drug problems. Places are super cheap for a reason. Hope you find something you like. :)

Interesting comment by his landlord KT about his state of mind and why it took some time to notify his son.

Getting lost might be a symptom.

Thanks for clarifying. The initial report of the move was a little confusing.

Yes it was confusing because the local writer assumed people would know that the streets were in one location when they were also talking about Cave Junction.

Remains found in Southern Oregon thought to be those of missing Hollywood actor

Using GPS data from Levin’s cell phone, search and rescue crews were able to narrow their search to a region near the town of Selma, southwest of Grants Pass, and scoured the rugged terrain for any sign of Levin.

Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, a resident in the area found Levin’s car on “very remote and almost impassable road,” the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety said in a news release. The car was off the road and disabled due to the terrain.

Levin’s pug, Boo Boo Bear, was found dead inside the vehicle.

Crews began a more intense search of the area around the car and, after several hours, found human remains.
