Found Deceased OR - Charles Levin, 70, & pug dog, lost driving in Cave Junction area, 28 June 2019

So sad!

Selma is about 14 miles from Cave Junction and about 20 miles from Grants Pass. It sounds as if he may have ended up in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, part of which is NE of Selma. I can’t imagine why he would have gone there in the kind of car he was driving.

This is heartbreaking. I have an elderly father (I know some will say 70 isn't elderly but at that age, dementia is more than common), who would go off on drives into the forested areas of Washington, getting disoriented to the point I had to take his car keys away from him. I hoped Charles had a sudden medical event and didn't suffer, but my heart breaks for his dog who was likely trapped in the car with him without food or water

People who knew Levin weigh in.

“I tried several times to take him out to show him the area around in case something like this woulda happen sometime. He would have nothing to do with it, so I don’t understand why he is way up a dirt road in Selma,” Daniel Ramsey, friend from dog park, said.

<snip>

“It does seem weird. He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would be wondering around the back roads in the mountains,” Wilson said.
