My heart goes out to the 13-year-old. The amount of trauma she is trying to process at this time is incredible; and the knowledge that her mother is "safe" has to be a mixed bag for her. I doubt if there is any way to convince that child that her mother won't somehow break out and come back to finish the job.

This is disgusting! How, how, how does a 'parent' kill their child? I saw a story on the new CNN show The Hunt w/John Walsh where last year a man beat his wife who fled w/their 2 young daughters to a motel for safety, but went back home after a few days. 3 days later 1 of the very young girls dialed 911 & the operator heard the man shoot her, her sister and her mom to death, then ran. How do you kill your own child?? Sigh... I digress....

I'm so glad they found this witch, who was completely unharmed by the way. Guess her daughter was too shocked as she was being stabbed by her own mother to fight back. Sigh....

Clatsop County District Attorney Josh Marquis says Smith's arraignment is scheduled for Monday afternoon. He says she'll appear by a video feed from jail and is not expected to enter a plea.

He says a defense lawyer may be appointed, and the county grand jury is expected to hear the case this week.

I don't know...she is a crime victim, she did not do anything wrong. Juveniles whole commit crimes are protected. But not naming victims sometimes makes me wonder if we (public) are acting like the victim has something to be ashamed of. And since her sister and parents have been named, finding out out her name is not difficult anyway. I am mixed about this. Jmo

She is a minor who should be shielded, period.

She should be able to choose whether to share this horrific tragedy with people she meets in the future. Not have her name come up in Google hits.
