The timeline for LE agreeing with you, or at least wanting to check, fits doesn’t it? Submitted as a potential match by WS sleuther in 2017 and then DNA extraction attempted early 2018. What a pity the DNA was insufficient.

Would they have been able to exclude Cindy by dentals from the found mandible?

I would think if they have enough of the jaw they could determine if wisdom teeth exist, had descended or had been pulled. Perhaps that’s why the age was adjusted.

@Orthram is now solving UID cases with much less DNA. Perhaps this case would be worthy of their review. You can check out their DNASolves website and upload your DNA to help ID the unidentified.

According to the Charley profile of Cindy King she wore a retainer. Would that somehow be noticeable?
I’m not sure if her retainer was removable etc. Braces would be obvious.

Honestly, I'm not certain a retainer would be obvious on skeletal remains. I know that after I had braces (much more recently than the 1970s), my retainer was removable.

Good point. There is usually an article of some sort indicating an identification has been made.
